Hello friends,

First of all I will introduce myself. My name is Adriano lvarez, I am from Len,
Spain, and as you, I have a passion for the wonderful world of gamefishing, and I feel a
deep respect for nature.
In my homeland, where trout-fishing has always been a tradition and which was
once the best area for trout-fishing in Europe but today has come down in the world, I
soon realized that I didnt find trouts fulfilling owing to its size, so I started to fish
other species whose size let me extend my chances of experiences of the catches. But
one fine day I ran into a French video about carpfishing, which has a healthy and noble
way of understanding life.
In Len it was very difficult for me to fish other species because trade is all
about trouts, and water masses, the relief and the weather are not favourable for
carpfishing.
Ive always liked manufacturing my own tackle: artificial flies, spoons, wooden
baitfishes and, of course, things related to carpfishing.
This is an acoustic and luminous bite alarm I designed following these
principles:
-

Simple.
Useful.
Cheap.

This bite alarm is based on electrical not electronic systems so it doesnt

break down and maintenance is easy and cheap.
I didnt like the bite alarms available on the market, because they even the
good-quality ones are not only expensive, but also easy to break down, owing to their
electronic mechanism exposed to hard weather conditions. Thats why I resolved to use
my head and devise something which could be made by oneself, basing on the three
previous principles.
We can use one detector with 1, 2, 3 or 4 rods, as we will see later, with the
following personal designs:

One bite alarm can be used with several rods.

There are no false bites.

Battery is not consumed when in stand-by mode.

They are rain-proof and can be made watertight by

covering them with a fine Gore-tex membrane or thin plastic.

SIREN BITE ALARM.

-CARPFISHINGIts an acoustic and luminous bite alarm for one or two rods, with ON and OFF
functions in every rod.
This bite alarm is the most powerful of its small kind. Its a mini-siren absolutely
watertight and dust-proof, ideal for its resistance to the elements, unlike other bite alarm
which are open and consequently risk to break down by water or damp.
In normal weather conditions, this bite alarm has a sound range of more than 100
metres (330 feet), which makes it ideal for when you need to go to your car it seems
that carps wait for this moment to bite. This mini-siren has a good amplifier inside,

which means a considerable saving of energy. It works with 6-12 volts, so its very
convenient using nine-volt batteries (PP3 batteries). (PICTURE 1) & (PICTURE 2)
MATERIALS:
1.
One 12 volt mini-siren. (PICTURE 3)
2.
An ABS box (a very resistant plastic box with the
following measurements: 80x50x30 millimetres or 3,12x1,95x1,17
inches)
3.
One or two high-luminescence LEDs (You choose
the colour, the most bright are transparent white and transparent blue)
4.
Two small tumbler switches
5.
Two(red) female double connectors and one
(black) female double connector.
6.
A small key switcher (to mute the bite alarm if you
want)
7.
Two steel bulldog clips
8.
One battery holder and a 9 volt battery

An electric drill and bits of different diameters

A soldering iron and solder wire
Fine cable
Cutter pliers

MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF THE SIREN BITE ALARM.

1.
Start by doing holes in the box where the
components of the bite alarm will be placed, trying to do it as fitted as
possible and with the help of some rubber joints of those used in
plumbing.
2.
Once they are placed, link up the connections in
the bite alarm following the circuit in the picture. (FIGURE 1)
(PICTURE 4)

double connector for the transmitter (PICTURE 5)
4. Hold the clips with steel flower-headed rivets. Place some foam rubber inside
the box to immobilize the battery and the wiring. (PICTURES 6 & 7)

CLIMBER MONKEYS OR SQUIRRELS

First of all I shall explain that this bite alarm needs line tighteners, called
climber monkeys or squirrels, the first line tighteners used in carp fishing, so
called because when strike occurs, these tighteners go up and down according to
the direction of the bite to or from the bank where the rods are. (PICTURE 8)
I have designed the climber monkeys or squirrels so that the wiring could
be removed from them and stay hidden in the ground, eliminating the possibility
of oxidizing the contacts. (PICTURE 9)

film)

magnet)

One or two reed switches

Some plastic jars (of those used to keep rolls of
Two metres of fine coaxial or double wire
A double male connector
A magnet (better if its a rare-earth or neodymium

TOOLS:
1.

3.

A cutter
An electric soldering iron and solder wire
Instant adhesive (cyanoacrylate)

MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF THE CLIMBER MONKEY.

1.
Make the structure of the climber monkey with the plastic jar for
film and with stainless steel wire it should be 1 millimetre thick (0,039
inches). Give the appropriate form so that it can go through the rod this
should also be stainless steel, 4 millimetre (0,156 inches) in diameter and
stick a small plastic ball to one end. (PICTURE 10)
2.
Stick the magnet to the base of this structure. If you have round
magnets, all the better; if not, you will need to break the magnet in several
pieces and stick them around the base. (PICTURE 11)
You can paint the climber monkey to make it more visible. (PICTURE 12)
3.
Now cut the other jar in half and adapt it so that it could be the
lower contact of the climber monkey.
4.
Place the reed switches in a plastic disc (you can use any type of
plastic). A reed switch is a switch activated by a magnet. It consists of a glass
ampoule which can be small, big or medium-sized that has inside two
small metallic sheets separated by a little space of 0,5 millimetres. These
sheets get together when the magnet gets close, and contact takes place.
(PICTURE 13)
In this case, for more security, place two reed switches and put it all together in
the half jar already prepared for this purpose, putting inside foam-rubber discs at
both sides of the reed switches to protect them and soldering the pins of the reed
switchers to the wires, and the other end to the male connector. (PICTURE 14)
5.
Put the pieces together sticking them with cyanoacrylate and stick
also a faucet washer to the base. This will help to adjust the height you want
to place this piece, making the detector more or less sensitive. (PICTURE
15)
You can stick a felt disc to the base. (PICTURE 16)
You can add weight to this bite alarm as much as you want, according to your
needs. Put leads or small stones inside. (PICTURE 17)
You can also adapt this bite alarm to three or more rods only by adding as many
tumbler switches, female connectors and climber monkeys as rods you want to
use.

OPERATION
When you have thrown the bait and tightened the line, you can already
put the climber monkey and activate the tumbler switch that corresponds to each
rod. To make it more convenient, try the following:

ON --------The lever is up
OFF--------The lever is down
The upper third of the rod where the climber monkey is placed should be
placed under the rod so that when an outward bite occurs, this is, bite by a fish
going in the opposite direction to the bank, the climber monkey could become
detached from the line automatically.
Sight of the laying of the tightener (climber monkey) to the line of the rod. (PICTURE
X) (PICTURE Y) (PICTURE Z)
For more security you can put a clip at the height of the handle of the rod
where the line is held, leaving the bow reel open if using a normal reel. In the
case of using a baitrunner reel, activate this mechanism. (FIGURE 2)
When a bite occurs, you only have to turn off the mechanism of the
corresponding rod this doesnt take more than a second and then work on the
fish. The other rod is still on, so dont worry about other bites occurring the
bite alarm works independently on each rod.
If you want, you can mute the bite alarm at night turning off the key
switch (black). The lights will remain on, waiting for a bite. (PICTURE 18)

Lets go on carrying out our philosophy so that the door to a necessary
change could be opened catch and release.
*A good fisherman is not who catches more fishes, but who instead of
killing them, lets them stay alive by releasing them after the catch.*
Lets respect nature, its the greatest thing we have.
Greetings and GOOD FISHING!!!
