SUMMARY
Lawrence is a management consultant with experienced in programme management, system engineering, and
procurement programmes delivered to a wide range of major blue-chip clients in the public and private sector.
He has a strong track record in the UK aerospace & defence sector for the Ministry of Defence and key defence
primes. He is PRINCE2 & MSP accredited, and a member of APM. Educated at Cambridge University (MA
Economics) and Imperial College, London (MSc Computing / Software Engineering).
Lawrence has deep experience in the deterrent community and holds active Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
He spent 15 years working for the top-tier management consultancies Andersen/Deloitte and KPMG/Atos prior to
starting his own company.

- Interim Programme Manager for a 130m system engineering programme in a Lockheed Martin joint
venture. Responsible from programme conception through to ongoing implementation and delivery.

2004 2011
Senior Manager / Principal Consultant, Atos Consulting (ex-KPMG Consulting)
- Led implementation of a system engineering / PLM process and PDM software in a large engineering
organisation. Scope was to design & deliver a PLM process which impacted an organisation of c8,000 people.
- Led a strategic supplier management project within the nuclear submarine cluster in MOD. Involved complex
supplier relationships where the supplier has significant leverage in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
Provided support to key alliance arrangements in the submarine manufacturing sector.
- Led a strategic supplier management project with DWP with annual spend in excess of 700m. The project
objective was to develop collaborative supplier engagement principles at the senior stakeholder level leading
towards a genuine partnering approach and sustained cost reduction.
- Led the transport and logistics category over a 24-month strategic sourcing project in the DLO in MOD. The
joint consultancy-MoD team delivered 10-20% cost savings across a spend base of 250m within a prime
contract environment. Involved used of reverse auctions.
- developed the outsourced BPO solution for MOD sub-categories covering 1.5 - 2.0bn spend p.a.
1997 2004
Manager, Andersen / Deloitte Consulting (TUPE transfer)
Deloitte: led the construction category team in the Transport for London procurement programme; led
procurement workstream with Interserve; developed strategic supply chain opportunities with Orange plc.
Andersen: promoted to Manager in 2002 in the procurement & supply chain team. Promoted to Consultant in
1998. Led/involved in a wide variety of supply chain project workstreams in the private sector including BSkyB,
com hem, Vivendi Universal and Glaxo. Started through the Scholarship Programme at Andersen in 1993.

SUMMARY OF KEY PROJECT ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


PLM & System Engineering programmes
UKAEA strategic advisory role to transition to system engineering capability for ITER. Led the team
for Requirements / Integration activity for the MAST-U project.
Large Engineering organisation Implementation Programme Manager responsible for delivery of a new
product introduction process and supporting PLM technologies (Teamcenter). Major change programme
which impacted 8,000 people. Core element of a next-generation nuclear deterrent.
DE&S Submarine Cluster: led the supplier management workstream for key DE&S spend areas in
nuclear weapons and submarines. Development of strategic alliances and partnerships with key
suppliers, seeking savings of 10-15% per annum on bn spend baseline.
Defence Aviation Repair Agency led the design of the MRO solution for DARA following the merger of
NARO and MGDA. Supported by shared services & IT strategy.
Strategic Supplier Management and Sourcing Programmes:
Procurement Reform: category team lead for 250m spend category across road, rail, air and sea
categories. Implemented 10-20% savings at the sub-category level in a change-averse organisation.
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP): shaped the strategic engagement between DWP and their
estate supplier. Developed the business case for sustained cost reduction against a spend baseline of
700m per annum on a 20 year PFI contract.
BSkyB: project manager for customer field service team. Delivered change management/process redesign to the client and UML specifications for the technology contractor. Managed a mix of client and
consultant team staff. 18 month programme.
com hem/Telia: change manager for the process design team, including CRM, supply chain, portal and
HR processes. 12 month programme.
Vivendi Universal: team leader for system selection project for clients UK supply chain team. Delivered
20% cost savings for IT spend.
Norwich Union Life managed design phase for building a supplier management organisation capability.
Interserve plc managed the procurement workstream, validated multi-million savings with the client.
Orange plc project manager for supply chain review for Orange UK, and competitors in review.
Delivered findings and recommendations for future savings opportunities.
