QUESTION
Develop an online business that has some unique characteristics to penetrate the market. The
business idea must have the e-commerce elements that able to attract web surfers to visit the website.
The assignment consists of TWO major parts.
PART A
You need to develop a website to sell a product and has sticky elements to get more online visitors.
PART B
A business plan as a blue print report about the business. The areas should be covered are;
a. Value proposition
b. Revenue Model
c. Market opportunity
d. Competitive environment
e. Competitive advantage
f. Market strategy
g. Organizational development
h. Management Team
Aim
As part of the project you have been asked to undertake the following activities:
1. Provide a short report that will summarize your thoughts on the most suitable revenue model that
should be adopted by the e-commerce site, together with your reasons for making this decision.
2. Develop an outline marketing plan that will help to ensure that the usage of the site is high and
generates the required levels of revenue.
3. Identify three potential domain names for the new site.
4. Identify the key questions to ask potential e-commerce suppliers in order to select an appropriate
company to develop and host the site on behalf of the publishers.
5. Produce a list of the key security concerns associated with the use of the e-commerce site and the
appropriate countermeasures that can be adopted.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this assignment is to expose the students to the following:
a. the contemporary technologies used in website design and development
b. understanding how the Web 2.0 revolution has changed the landscape of the Internet and
online marketing
c. analyzing how to ensure that a portal can be a major engine in enhancing branding
d. derive a proper practical business plan which adopts the best possible strategies in the
competitive environment
EXPECTED OUTCOME
You are to upload the online business and a written business plan.

This Assignment is team effort and it contributes 30% to your total marks.
You are to work in groups of 5 or 6
Students are required to submit the report based on the following
o A minimum of 3,500 words
o Font type: Arial size 12
o Hardcopy: Binded with cover page
o Softcopy: CD format
Late submissions will result in a deduction of 0.5% per day
