INTRODUCTION

The 9,450- hectare Clark Green City is located within the Clark Special Economic
Zone (CSEZ) and at the heart of the bustling urban centers and major
infrastructures in the Central Luzon Region. The development is focused on two (2)
key elements, 1) on the areas natural resources and ecosystems as the defining
factors of development; and 2) on smart urban development. The development is
generally mixed-use and is structured into five (5) districts defined by their main
functions, namely Government District; Central Business District; Academic District;
Agri-Forestry Research and Development District; and Wellness, Recreation and Ecotourism District.
Clark Green City (CGC) is expected to serve the core for development of the
regional cluster in the Central and Northern Luzon. As the cluster is already
provided with a competitive international gateway port and airport, key success
ingredients are to accelerate urban and industrial development. The CGC should
function as an independent city and connect directly with growth centers
internationally.
GEOLOGY
Most parts of Tarlac province and lowlands of Pampanga province are generally
covered with alluvial deposits of recent age. The eruption of Mount Pinatubo
apparently indicates that these materials are products of partly volcanic ash fall and
lahar flow around volcanic satellites and volcanic slopes, pyroclastic materials of
recent dominate.
The Study Area is generally underlain with unconsolidated alluvial formation
consisting of alternating beds of gravels, sand, silt and clay along major valleys and
lowlands. The assemblage of this unconsolidated rock unit (alluvium) is relatively
shallower and thinner approaching the southwestern boundary of the area. This can
be attributed to the fact that the southwestern boundary of the area is underlain by
consolidated rock unit of the Tarlac Formation.
