STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
KNOWLEDGE DIFFERENTIATES MEN FROM BEASTS This adage always inspires me
because gaining knowledge is the most import aspect throughout life. I, DINESH REDDY
hailing from a little known tiny hamlet in INDIA, was born in a technocrat family where my
grandfather and cousins are placed in the highest position in science. This motivated me enough
to reach a higher rank and profile in my studies and career. Since childhood I was interested in
automobiles and in pursuing my career in this related field.
From a very young age I was inclined towards subjects like Mathematics and Physics because
they fascinated me with the miracles they do in science. Hence I excelled in school achieving a
99% in Mathematics in Tenth Grade and an 86.80% over all. Apart from excelling in academics I
was always an active participant. I have always given an equal importance to co-curricular
activities. During my final year of high school, I was elected as pupil leader (head boy) of my
school, to lead in all the extra curricular activities. Besides these, I am an active sports person, I
play all kinds of sports, I served as a Captain of my school cricket team and was a team member
in basketball, badminton.
Further, to reinforce my skills in Physical sciences I pursued Intermediate in Science and Math.
With my hard work and interest I went on to score distinction in my class XII(intermediate)
gaining confidence in concepts of physical sciences and mathematics.
Since I have a penchant towards motorized vehicles like cars and bikes from my childhood, I
chose Mechanical Engineering after my higher secondary. I was determined to secure admission
into GITAM University, Visakhapatnam which is very famous for Mechanical Engineering in the
state of Andhra Pradesh because of its strong faculty, infrastructure and research facilities. To
accomplish this I had to qualify in the entrance test. This required me to work with diligence to
achieve my goal. In the end, my hard work resulted in 2880 rank out of nearly 1.2 lakh students
which guaranteed my admission into GITAM University. After thorough investigation of various
factors like my area of interest, scope and job safety, I decided to choose Mechanical
Engineering, which is an ancient yet innovative art of Engineering as a field of study in my
B.Tech.
During this study of 4 years course I came across many theory subjects like Engineering
Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, Manufacturing Technology, Automobile

Engineering, and practical subjects like Geometrical Drawing, AutoCAD, CATIA, ANSYS
which became my subjects of interests in which I excelled too. My keen interests towards these
subjects made me participate in many techno fests like National level technical fests conducted
by National Institute of Technology, Warangal and VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering
and Technology, Hyderabad. Besides these I was introduced to topics related to Industrial
Engineering such as Methods Engineering and Work Place Design, Engineering Metrology Lab,
Industrial Engineering Lab which I realized that these topics are fascinating too. After all the
courses that I have taken, I found myself particularly interested in the courses on CAD/CAM,
CNC&APT Modern Manufacturing Methods and Operation Research.
Considering my strong interests in cars and bikes, I have done my final year project on InCylinder flow and combustion simulation of B20 blend fuel using ANSYS-FLUENT in which
the main objective is simulating turbulence region generated inside combustion chamber by fuel
spray penetration and comparing combustion quality with standard Diesel fuel. I have also
undergone an industrial training in STEEL PLANT, Visakhapatnam, where I learnt about
different levels of operations in the Thermal Power Plant such as steam generation and boiler
controlling. Besides these I have visited HERO MOTOR CORP, Gurgaon and SWARAJ
MAZDA, Chandigargh as a part of my Industrial tour. Due to these industrial exposures I started
becoming more interested towards Industrial Engineering.
Just about 2 months ago our state has bifurcated into Andhra Pradesh state and Telangana state
and I belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh. Because of the recent bifurcation our state gets lot of
support like land allocation on subsidy rates, Tax holiday and financial assistance for at least 5 to
10 years for new industries. As the growth of the state depends on the industrial sector,
INDUSTRIAL Engineering gains momentum in our area. It has been my dream since long to
establish an industry providing employment to others and to grow along with the industry. So I
feel Industrial Engineering is a better option to pursue my Masters Degree. I feel the UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA is the correct destination to fulfill my ambition of being equipped to
face the challenges that this particular industry would throw at me. Since your university has the
state-of-the-art research facilities and esteemed faculty I feel that my goals will be realized best
with your tutelage.
Keeping in view my goals and aspirations I hope I will be given an opportunity to pursue my
higher education in INDUSTRIAL Engineering from your esteemed University. I assure you of
the best of me, if I am given an opportunity to study with you.
