Opening Prayer
Merciful Father, as we gather here before you to
reflect on your suffering, death, and resurrection
and as we express our sorrow for our sins, we
humbly ask you to be with us on each station of
your journey. Help us to fully understand and be
grateful for the gift of your salvation you brought as
your gift through Jesus passion, death, and
resurrection. And may grant us also the grace to
realize through your Son, Jesus, how much you love
us. Amen.
ENTRANCE SONG:
Were you there when they crucified my
Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my
Lord?
Oh sometimes it causes me
To tremble, tremble, tremble.
When you there when they crucified my
Lord?
THE FIRST STATION:
Jesus institute the Eucharist.
L: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you.
A: For by your Holy Cross you have redeemed
the world.
Scriptural Reading: 1 Cor. 23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also
handed on to you that the Lord Jesus that night he
was handed over, took bread, and, after he had
given thanks, broke it and said, This is my body
that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In
the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,
This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this,
as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For
as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup. You
proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.
(Pause)
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, how great your love for us.
You remain the Eucharist to be for us the food and
drink of eternal life. Forgive us Lord, for the times
we have failed to recognize your presence in the
Eucharist and in every person and appreciate your
gift of self to us. Amen.
L: Jesus crucified,
A: Have mercy on us.
SONG: Were you there when they sent Him to
His death.
Were you there when they sent Him to
his death.
Oh sometimes it causes me
To tremble, tremble, tremble.
When you there when they sent Him to his
death.
THE SECOND STATION:
Jesus prays in Gethsemani.
L: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you.
L: Jesus crucified,
A: Have mercy on us.
SONG: Were you there when they stripped Him
on His robe?
Were you there when they stripped Him
on His robe?
Oh sometimes it causes me
To tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they stripped Him
on His robe?
THE TENTH STATION:
Jesus Promises Heaven to the Repentant Thief.
L: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you.
A: For by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the
world.
Scriptural Reading: Lk. 23:39-43
Now one of the criminals hanging there
reviled Jesus, saying, Are you not the Messiah?
Save yourself and us. The other however, rebuking
him, said him in reply, Have you no fear of God,
for you are the subject to the same condemnation?
And indeed we have condemned justly, for the
sentence we receives corresponds to our crimes, but
this man has done nothing criminal. Then he said,
Jesus remember me when you come into your
kingdom. He replied to him, Amen I say to you,
today you will be with me in Paradise.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, we beg You, make us like the
repentant thief who had much faith and trust in you.
Give us the courage to humbly admit all the wrongs
we have done and forgive those who have done us
wrong but would like to be friends with us again.
May we be kind enough to welcome the again as
You were to the repentant thief. Amen.
L: Jesus crucified,
A: Have mercy on us.
SONG: Were you there when He stumbled on
His Face?
Were you there when He stumbled on His
Face?
Oh sometimes it causes me
To tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when He stumbled on His
Face?
THE ELEVENTH STATION:
Jesus Entrusts Mary and John to Each Other.
L: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you.
A: For by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the
world.
Scriptural Reading: Jn. 19:25-27
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his
mother and his mothers sister, Mary the wife of
Cleopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his
mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he
said to his mother, Woman, behold your mother.
And from that hour the disciple took her into his
home.
