3rd Collaborative Field Program in

Peru
Harvard School of Engineering and Applied

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

DESCRIPTION:
As part of the agreement between the Universidad de Ingeniera y Tecnologa,
UTEC, and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) of Harvard
University, a collaborative field program will be launched during 2016. Five
students from SEAS will visit Peru and will form a team with five students from
UTEC. Together they will focus on a project related to water treatment, which
will involve approaches from different fields of science and engineering. In the
first part of the program (January 11-22) the SEAS-UTEC team will meet in Peru,
where they will assess the problem and the impact on users and the
environment. Afterward, they will work at UTEC designing and testing potential
solutions for the identified problem. UTEC students will continue the project
during the 2015-1 semester as an undergraduate project and during August
they will travel to Harvard University to conclude the project. Although in
principle each student will be required to cover their expenses associated with
the trip to the USA, financial aid may be available for students that request it.

UTEC students that are selected must attend a workshop on enhancing social
and engineering skills from December 14th - 23rd and from January 4th - 8th.
