speak. SW follow directions. SW listen to the teacher.

1. Anticipatory set: Who likes dogs and cats? Who has a dog? Who has a
cat?

2. Objective: We are going to learn about Venn diagrams. It is a way to

also what a Venn diagram is.
a. Similarities- compare.

b. Contrast- differences.

4. Modeling: Tell them how they are going to sort dogs and cats into a
Venn diagram. The Put one of the cards into its category. It doesn’t
matter which one. The Venn diagram is projected onto the white board
by the document camera. It is blank. The sticky notes are written out
ahead of time.

5. Guided practice: Sort the rest of the sticky notes into the categories.
Use choice sticks and choose one student to place each sticky note in
the right category. Ask the class to show if they agree or disagree by
showing a thumbs up or thumbs down.

6. Quiz/Check for understanding: See if students agree or disagree, use

choice sticks to just ask one.

7. Closure: Review terms compare, contrast, and what Venn diagrams are
for. Check for understanding by having them show with a thumbs
up/sideways/or down if they understand or don’t understand.
