Introduction
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration
among the people, companies, and governments of
different nations, a process driven by international trade
and investment and aided by information technology.
This process has effect on the environment, on culture, on
political systems, on economic development and
prosperity and on human physical well-being in societies
around the world.
Globalization poses four major challenges that will have
to be addressed by governments, civil society and other
policy actors. On is to ensure that the benefits of
globalization extend to all countries that will certainly not
happen automatically.
Globalization is particularly
marked in the developing world. Globalization challenge
is to address the very real fear in the industrial world that
increased global competition will lead inexorably to a
race to the bottom in wages, labor rights, employment
practice and the environment.

The Challenges of Globalization

Globalization is not a radical revolution that is going to
completely transform education: its impact will be more
on emphasis of certain trends. Firstly, we should remind
ourselves that education must not lose sight of its
traditional basic goals: reading, writing, arithmetic, and
know-how and skill development. In short, everything
required to live and to communicate with the
environment, everything that a person needs to participate
in the life of his /or her society. Secondly, faced with the
consequences of globalization on individuals and
societies, other goals become relevant for educational
reform.
Rebuilding the social link- It is through
education- at school and non-formal environments- that
the desire and the benefits of living together is learned by
learning to work in teams and the development of
individual abilities, learning to listen to others and the
events which surround us, understanding our economic,
social and political environment whether at a national or
global level. Education should be the catalyst for the
desire to live together at the heart of the same society and
in the same global village through the teaching of

universal values such as tolerance and human rights, the

diversity of culture, the respect for others and for our
environment, etc., by searching for the right balance
between the societys concerns and the integrity of the
individual.
More equal development of society- The
workplace requires creative, talented and co-operative
people. Education- as all social institutions- must
contribute to a more equal development of society, that is
to say, where all members have a fair share in production
as well as in consumption. For example, individuals have
to learn how to cope with periods out of a stable job and
choose to use these periods for education, voluntary work
or participating in community and associative activities;
in short, all other forms of work- action, synonymous
with social use, and therefore of recognition and identity.
Education must, in fact, contribute to
revitalizing a society of citizens who share the values,
issues and challenges of their community, country and the
world

A society of citizens- To build a society of

autonomous, productive, participative and committed

citizens will require a radical shift in emphasis of the

division in tasks between different levels and types of
education. Basic education for all- as promoted by
Jomtien- will inevitably be the main concern of all policymakers, in particular those in charge of education.
Obviously, such a requirement will inevitably involve
restructuring education as a whole.
The task of basic education- Globalization entails
an increase in the tasks of basic education. The globalized
world needs a society that is made up of citizens capable
of acting and thinking autonomously about the rapid
social evolution. These skills must be acquired by all
citizens, along with the fundamental elements of learningreading, writing and arithmetic. It is therefore down to
basic education to build the citizen at the heart of the
global village.

Conclusion
Globalization poses major challenges that will have to be
addressed by government, civil society, and other policy
actors.
Another challenge of globalization is the
perception that economic liberalization has exacerbated
the gap between the rich and poor countries and between
the rich and poor within countries that have liberalized.
The perception that the gap has been growing both among
and within nations, is broadly true. The connection with
globalization is much less clear.
