CentraCare hires new development director

Since 2007, the CentraCare Health Foundation
has generated more than
$57 million to help fund patient care, innovation, research and education.
Now, CentraCare is expanding the foundation into
the Monticello-Big Lake
area.
Michelle Redding was
recently hired as the first
development director at
CentraCare Monticello to
start a regional hub of
the foundation in the area.
The foundations mission is to engage the philanthropic community in
partnership to improve

says Redding. I am the
conduit for the foundation.
I will be working locally to
engage with people in the
community who are philan-

thropic and who are interested in investing in the

health and healthcare of our
local community.
The foundation has
more than 50 members,
1,100 volunteers and 7,100
donors who are making a
difference in their communities across Central Minnesota.
The foundation raised
$2.3 million for a 62,000
sq. ft. clinic and hospital in
Long Prairie and $800,00
in the St. Cloud area for the
BLEND initiative to fight
young adult obesity.
Collectively this past
year, 4,996 benefactors invested more than $9.3 million in CentraCare Health
to support educational pro-

grams, conduct research

and provide services that
improve the quality of
health and health care in the
region.
In the past fiscal year,
CentraCare Health Foundation also gave $5.1 million
in health care grants
throughout Central Minnesota.
Redding has a background in healthcare and
community fundraising/
development. She most recently worked for Catholic
Charities in St. Cloud and
has worked for Habitat for
Humanity in the St. Cloud
area.
She worked in the
Twin Cities for HealthEast
Foundation, and in Min-

neapolis for the American

Refugee Committee, which
works with refugees and
displaced persons around
the globe.
I
was
engaging
donors around the country
who were interested in
helping to alleviate peoples suffering, she says.
Now Redding has been
meeting with organizations
and people in the community. She recently joined the
Monticello Rotary and attended chamber of commerce meetings in Becker
and Big Lake.
Its been wonderful.
Im getting to know this
community and Im very
excited about it, she says.
Im getting acquainted

with people who have been

involved with supporting
healthcare in the past and
Im meeting people in the
community who are newly
interested in becoming involved in ensuring that we
have a strong healthcare
provider in our community.
There is no target dollar amount or specific project, like a new hospital
wing, to raise funds to support. Redding says there
will be something on the
horizon, and she intends to
form a regional development committee.
