I. Introduction
Through all these years educational system in the Philippines is continuously being shape and
reshaped subjected to serious scrutiny in the efforts to improve the quality and at the same time widen the
opportunities of the citizens for access to basic education. Thus, it is mandated in the Republic act 9155,
otherwise known as “Governace of Basic Education Act of 2001.” That the Department of Education
shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality basic education accessible to all..
It is along this line that Catarman SPED Center continue to support in the implementation of the
different program an d projects of the Department of Education, Northern Samar, through the efforts of
the competent teachers and administrator with supportive stakeholders that will help improve the learners
performance towards the quality basic education.
Catarman SPED Center is one of the schools of the Catarman I District offering quality
education to the fast learners/mentally gifted and differently abled children.
The school is bounded on the North by barangay Airport Village, on the East by Catarman I
Central School, on the South by Barangay Acacia, and on West by Municipal road just adjacent to the
Northern Samar Hospital and still with barangay Acacia.
The school site of Catarman SPED Center is owned by Catarman I Central School. The
school has Reading Clinic, Mini-interactive park, ochidaruim, and a covered walk along the pathway of
the school to protect the learners from the heat of the sun and during rainy weather.
Catarman SPED Center has 22 teachers headed by female principal who work together to help
improved the academic performance of 431 children this school year 2009-2010.

V. FINANCIAL REPORT
VI. Major Thrust and Strategies for year 2009
1. Project Intensive Collaboration of Unleashing Peak Performance (ICU)
o Conduct review classes during Saturdays in preparation of NAT
o Remedial instruction focus on the identified least learned skills.
2. Remediation, Reinforcement and Enrichment (RRE)
o Remedial instructon conducted every Friday using the identified least learned skills
from Monday to Thursday as regular class.
3. Improve Pupils Reading Performance (IPRP)
o Conducted the power of reading comprehension through remedial reading.
o Conducted any other intervention that will help improve/increase the reading
performance of pupils using the big books and short stories in 2C2IA.
o Implement some best practices like, read a book or Story telling in class daily for 15
minutes.
o Conducted reading comprehension test out of story read using HOTS.
