grading the concert reports. More information will be given in class
after the beginning of the quarter.
Final Project:
All students are required to choose one of the following:
1. Performance- play, sing or dance for the class. You do not have to
be an accomplished performer; you are encouraged to learn the
basics of an instrument so that you can play or sing a simple
piece. Collaboration with others in the class is encouraged.
2. Write a comprehensive paper on a musical topic, minimum 5
pages in length,
double spaced, size 12 font with one inch margins, typed.
Students may
choose to research a composer (of any era and style), a
type of music from a
another culture, an instrument or family of instruments, etc. This
paper
needs to demonstrate college level research and writing.
Consult with our
music librarian Caitlin St. John downstairs in the Music Library.
3. Compose an original composition for instrument(s) and/or
voice(s).
Demonstrating music writing skills counts more than creativity.
Final Projects are due on the scheduled Finals Day Sat. Dec. 5.
