ABSTRACT
When kids watch superhero movies, they always dream
if they can be the superhero. With our research, these
dreams come true. Though becoming a superhero is not
a kids game, the superhero has a lot of responsibilities.
To fulfill these responsibilities, a superhero must have
strength, speed, x-ray vision, mind reading ability and
ability to work in numbers. There are various
superheroes in the market, some of them have powers
from birth but some develop powers with use of
technology like Ironman. So, we are basically trying to
design a superhero suite with the use of technology.

1. INTRODUCTION
From decades the human civilization is taking interest in
increasing the efficiency of man power physically and
mentally. The idea of a super powered human is not just
a few years old; as we tend to believe that it is originated
from science fiction movies like superman, ironman etc.
In contrast, the sign of creating a superpower is a
millions years ago concept, i.e. in Indian mythology
where the human has the power to fly in space and read
minds so that he can defeat the bad guys and save the
planet. In all these stories, some of the superheroes are
born with some supernatural powers, on the other hand
some created their powers in the form of superheroes
suit which we are going to focus upon. So the first
challenge would be to clarify what superpowers does my
superhuman need to have. Based on some study and real
life polling we have finalized four of them as:
1.
Strength and Speed.
2.
Mind reading ability.
3.
X-ray vision.
4.
Ability to work in numbers.

2. STRENGTH AND SPEED

When we hear about some kind of superheroes or

superpowers, the first thing that comes to our mind is
strength. A superhuman if not able to compete with the
bad guys physically, he dont need to have a title of a
superhuman. Whos better to talk when we are talking
about strength other than the rough and tough wrestlers
and body builders? Now, the record for the maximum
amount of load that is being bench pressed by a wrestler
is around 1000 pounds. Thats close to the human limits
but not at all to our design of a superhuman. Moreover
by lifting a weight of around 1000 pounds, he is not
going to move his muscles or they will tear out. The
modern technology of science and hydraulics has
simplified the problem to a bit extent. They call their
invention as Exoskeleton. It is a mechanical device
that runs on the power of hydraulics and some sensors
that enables the motor to move in the direction that our
muscles do. By using this, 200 pounds of weight can
easily be lifted by an average human very easily [1]. But
the problem with these kinds of systems is that they are
too bulky to handle. Further they always require an
additional supply of non-compressible liquid that
initiates the hydraulics mechanism. But somewhere in
the world, the solution to this problem is taking shape.
We are on a hunt to find a way out to increase the
human strength beyond the human limits. The large
humanoid robotic machines are not the alternative. But
there is one. Dr. Ray Baughman, currently working in
the Nanotech institute, UTD is able to create something
that is popularly known today as artificial muscles. The
mechanism used for designing these artificial muscles
can be explained as:
Suppose there is a spring structure made out of a
substance known as memory metal in a two sided open
jar. Now a bottle of around 200 ounces is lifted at one
side of the spring or the memory metal. This memory
metal is nothing but nickel-titanium alloys [2].

Now when certain amount of alcohol is spread on the
surface of the jar the nano-particles present of the
surface of titanium causes the alcohol to react with
oxygen in the air, thus enabling the spring to change its
crystal structure and regaining its original shape. The
spring regains its original shape not by applying any
pressure on the lower side thus lifting the bottle very
easily. According to an experiment, this memory metal
can lift the weights 500 times more than the normal
human muscles can do. This means we are able to lift
500 times more weight we have a sheet made of this
memory metal. The idea is unique and extraordinary but
we have hit a tiny problem with this design. The
contraction of the spring has power but no speed. It
contracts and expands very slowly thus making our
superhero difficult to react in immediate situations.
Dr. Ray has some other plans also to deal with this
situation. He turned up to the world of nanotechnology.
Carbon nano-tubes or the allotropes of carbon with a
cylindrical nano-structure are going to be the biggest
revolution in the history of nano-science. Nano-tubes
have been constructed with length-to-diameter ratio of
up to 132,000,000:1, significantly larger than for any
other material [3].

they tend to contract and expand much faster than the

human muscles. Thus if our suit is made up of these
carbon nano-tubes the fiber of these tubes contract thus
providing high speed to our superhero much higher than
any athlete or runner.
Now we have two options for the fiber of our
superhero suit, one is powerful memory metal capable of
lifting 500 times more weight than the human muscles,
another is a sheet made of carbon nano-tube fiber having
much speed than the human muscles. The best solution
would definitely be to use both. In the core of our suit
would be the a sheet of the memory metal which is used
to provide strength to the muscles, then after that would
be a sheet of tiny carbon nano-tubes fiber used to
provide speed to the muscles making it capable of
running faster than the train.
Mind reading ability
Till now our superhero suit has the ability to provide
speed and strength to a person, but sometimes there is a
situation, when one has to react immediately to a
situation before it get worse. In such situations our
superhuman must have the ability to know about the
situations before, so that he can plan his actions in
advance and act upon. To provide the mind reading
ability to our superhuman, first we should learn how our
brain works. According to different situations, our mind
reacts by transmitting signals in the form of electric
impulse to the body. These electric signals, generated in
the complex neuron structure produce varying magnetic
field around the direction of current propagation. Now-adays these magnetic field patterns can be traced and even
recognized by one of the most revolutionary invention of
the 21st century i.e. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
[6].

Moreover, there is another property of these nano-tubes
that made them perfect for our design. When a certain
amount of current is passed through these nano-tubes,

Fig3. Construction and output of a MRI Scanner

These MRI machines use very large magnets to trace the
magnetic fields of the brain and reconstruct the image of
the brain on the computer screen and look for any
damage. Our brain forms certain impulse loops when it
reacts to a particular situation. These current loops are
different for different conditions whether the brain is
looking at a person or a thing and scientists have started
to record these patterns. 10 years from now and we will
be able to recognize what the person is thinking by just
analyzing the current patterns of his brain.
These MRI machines are a great achievement in
the way of creating a superhuman suit if a small problem
can be sorted out. The problem with this machine is its
size. These are so bulky and heavy that they can never
be portable or be fixed at any place within seconds.
Reducing the size of this gadget is a tough task, but
researchers have proved that it is not at all impossible.
The worlds smallest MRI machine is now-a-days
known as atomic magnetometer. The structure of an
atomic magnetometer is just like a sandwich, in which
there is a laser light at the top then gas atoms in the
middle then there is a detector at the bottom which
measure how much amount of laser light is passed
through the gas atoms. Like a group of magnetic
compasses, the gas atoms of the magnetometer are
aligned neatly but when a magnetic field of the thinking
brain is detected by the atoms these gaseous atoms
change their alignment and also the amount of laser light
passed through the magnetometer [8].

Fig4. Model and inner working of atomic magnetometer

By measuring the amount of laser light passed through
the atoms of the magnetometer we can detect the brain
activity. Moreover they are much more sensitive than the
bulky MRI machines because of its small shape instead
of huge magnets used to boost the brain signals. Our
superhero suit is half complete and it seems to be taking
shape. We have a strong and superfast body for the suit;
also we have some futuristic gadgets used to read the
mind of the opponent. But only by observing what others
are not observing does not seems to help our hero, he
should also be able to see what others cannot see. This
type of vision enables our superhuman to see through the
walls and rooms so that he can know what type of illegal
or terroristic activities are being done inside a closed
room. Whether it is the case of kidnapping or planting a
bomb, our superhero will know about it just looking
through the walls, faster than any police or military
squads.
X-ray vision
The concept of X-ray vision was originated with the
worlds first X-ray machine. These x-rays are too tiny
such that it can pass through our body and give us the
picture of our internal organs like bones, lungs etc. This
model of x-ray machine has the transmitter and receiver
on opposite sides which makes it uncomfortable to be
used in our suit. Rather we should find a way such that
the transmitter and receiver of the x-rays can be
implemented on a single device to be used as our x-ray
glasses. Studies have shown that though maximum of

the x-rays pass through the object, there are still some
that reflects from the atoms of that particular object.
These reflected x-rays can be trapped in a receiver that is
attached from the transmitter.

receiver on both sides of these glasses. Not only x-rays,

these facets will be helpful for the visible rays of light to
get focused on a chip which in turn is connected to the
LCD that gives the image [12]. This will increase the
vision of our superhero in every condition even through
the doors and walls.
Besides all these abilities our superhero can have
support from the robotics and machine world. The
concept of huge mechanical arms can be used as an
alternative in the worst situations. But I dont want these
mechanical arms to be fully autonomous so that in future
they will take control over the human mind and create
menace. Several researches is going on in this field
where a chip can be connected to the central nervous
system of our brain that enables the user to use these
bots according to their will. This invention of brain
interfacing has helped us a lot in completing our
prototype of a superhero suit. Finally it is ready to be in
the real world.

3. CONCLUSION

Fig5. Demonstration and working of an X-ray

This phenomenon is known as back scatter x-ray. The
idea is pretty phenomenal and will be used definitely in
the nearest future, but this doesnt give the surety of a
clear x-ray image. It can even create some illusions as
seen in the past which can create unwanted massacre.
The solution to this problem is not miles away in the
space, but miles down the sea.
Lobster is known to have the most clear vision
among all the species, it can see up to a distance of
around 5m in the worlds most impure river where
humans cant see a thing. The reason for this fascinating
vision of this creature lies in its eyes. The structure of its
eyes comprises of tiny holes all around the surface like a
wooden basket. Researches call these tiny holes as
facets. Light falls on the top of these facets and reflected
down to the retina. Thus all the light reflected on a single
point thus giving the species an excellent vision. Similar
type of facets can be constructed on the glasses of our
superhero suit along with an x-ray transmitter and

The design of our superhero suit has all the qualities so

that it can be developed and resisted in the real world.
Our idea of a superhero suit consists of various
mechanical and electrical super powers like super
strength and super speed. Moreover it also has the ability
of x-ray vision and mind reading. The most fascinating
power is the mechanical arm that enables it to face huge
amount of bad people at once. These all powers can be
given to a man by integrating the machines to the human
body. Some of the under research gadgets like atomic
magnetometer and back scatter x-ray might help in this.
Our model is ready the day is not far away when we
have our own superhero to fight against the evil.
