PROCEDURE
1) A new icon case was opened by selecting the New Project button.
2) Property Package window was opened and the Component Lists tab was clicked in order to
add component.
3) On the Pure Components Search tab, Hydrogen Chloride, Ethylene, Ethyl Chloride and
Nitrogen are added to the system.

4) Fluid Packages tab was clicked in order to choose the desired package. Peng-Robinson from
Thermodynamics Model was applied.

7) Simulation window was opened to start the simulation and Pallets tab appearred.
8) The Stream Material icon was drag out from the selection and release it to the worksheet.
The Material stream was numbered as 1.
9) The stream icon was double clicked to open up the material stream form and the following
was added to its port.

10) The Mixer icon was drag out from the selection and release it to the worksheet.

11) The inlet of the mixer consists of two streams which are feed stream 1 and recycle stream.
The outlet stream is named Stream 2.

12) The Conversion Reactor icon was drag out from the selection and release it to the
worksheet.
13) The inlet stream are Stream 2 whereas the outlet stream consist of two streams, overhead is
named Stream 3 and bottom is Stream 4.
14) The conversion reactor is at isobaric and isothermal condition.

16) The Component Splitter icon was drag out from the selection and release it to the
worksheet.
17) The inlet stream are Stream 3 whereas the outlet stream consist of two streams, overhead
oulet is named Stream 5 and bottom is Stream 6.
18) Bottom stream will carry mostly produce of the process, while the top stream carry unreacted
reactant and waste product.

Figure 9: Component splitter

19) The overhead which is the top stream from the component splitter is assumed there is no
product flow in it.
20) The product of the process is totally separated into the bottom product.

21) Next, from the overhead/top stream is connected to the splitter purge.
22) The splitter purge consists of two output stream which are purge stream 7 and recycle steam
8. The recycle stream will recycled back into the process by mixing with the feed in the
mixer. The purge stream will eventually going out from the process as a waste product to
avoid accumulation in the process.

The objective of this experiment is to install and converge a conversion reactor and to simulate a process
that involving a recycle process. All the equipment in the process is carried in isothermal and isobaric
process. The temperature is at 25 C while the pressure is 1 atm. The pressure drop is assume zero.
