Findings
Based on the analysis, the following findings are surfaced to give as the
summary of findings to make the answers of the respondents clearly and easily
to understand regarding to their response on the statement of the problem.
1. What is the extent of involvement of the 3rd year engineering students of Saint
Joseph Institute of Technology in terms of:
1.1 Utilization of visual aids
1.2 Oral communication
1.3 Application and classroom activity
As what the researchers conduct the result for this statement of the problem.
These are overall mean of three components. For the utilization of visual aids it has an
overall mean of 2.83, for oral communication are 2.81, and for application and
classroom activity are 2 . 9 0 . The extent involvement of the teaching and learning
activity of the 3rd year engineering students of Saint Joseph institute of Technology it has
a general verbal description of Agree with a rating of 2.85 .

What is the Academic Retention of 3rd year engineering students of Saint Joseph

Institute of Technology in terms of:

2.1 Level of understanding
The result of the level of understanding is 2.87. And since it has one component
for the dependent variable it has a same result for the general average and the verbal
description of this variable is agree.

Is there a significant relation between teaching and learning activities and the

academic retention of 3rd year engineering students of Saint Joseph Institute of

Technology?
Based on the responses of the respondents the correlation of the two variables is
0.722 means that the relation of the teaching and learning activity of the 3 rd year
engineering student of Saint Joseph Institute of Technology is very high and the null
hypothesis is rejected.
4.

On the basis of the findings, what program and recommendation can be developed?
As what the researcher got the result of their study which is all of the variables

get the result of Agree in their verbal description. And based on this result the
researcher can say that it has a good result but in order to increase the academic
retention of the 3rd year engineering students. The instructors and the students of Saint
Joseph Institute of Technology should change or add some techniques in their teaching
skills so that the students and instructors mind can merge for the sake of their studies
and their work.

The Academic Retention of 3rd year engineering students of Saint Joseph Institute of
Technology is agreed for the level of understanding they have now. This means that the
3rd year engineering students is satisfied for their instructor and the researchers
conclude that the academic retention of the students will defend on the teachers acticity.

Is there a significant relationship between teaching and learning activities and the

academic retention of 3rd year civil engineering students of Saint Joseph Institute of
Technology?
Based on the result the researchers conclude that there is a significant
relationship between the teaching and learning activities and academic retention of 3rd
year engineering students of Saint Joseph Institute of Technology.
Reccomendations
For Saint Joseph Institute of Technology. The College of engineering and
architecture should always check the retention of the students and add more techniques
on teaching

For Students. Must continue their level of understanding so that they can
maintain their grades. And they should not depend always to their instructor because
not all the time they discuss all the topics.
For the Future Researchers. Should be more responsible in gathering
information and should always rely on what instructors said. And they should promote
teamwork on their group.
