Schedule Notes:

Locate studs at 16" o.c. maximum, u.n.o. per plan or detail.

1. Gypsum shearwalls may be fastened with equivalent drywall nail or screw. ICBO rating is required.
2. Block all panel edges where indicated on schedule. Blocking may be installed flatwise. Edge nail sheathing at
blocked edges.
3. Provide minimum of one stud at ends of gypsum board shearwalls, u.n.o. Foundation holdowns and plywood
shearwalls require double studs, u.n.o. Provide double top plate at all shear walls, including non-bearing.
Lap splice wood top plate 4' - 0" with 8-16d nails each side of lap, u.n.o.
4. A minimum of two anchor bolts shall be used in each sill plate piece. Provide anchor bolt within 9" of each end.
Anchor bolts shall be 1/2" dia. by 10" long, with 7" of embedment into concrete, u.n.o.
5. For shear panels on both sides of wall, use one half the spacing given in the schedule for anchor bolt or sole
plate nail spacing, u.n.o.
6. Anchor bolt or shotpin spacing, if indicated on foundation plan, overrides the scheduled spacing above.
7. Where P2, P3, P4, or P5 panels are applied on both sides of wall, use Note A. For P2 and P3 panels on both
sides of wall, panel edges may be offset to occur on different studs in lieu of using (2)-2 x studs per Note A.
Note A:

The following items are required, at Contractors' option: ( In lieu of 3 x studs )

Stagger panel fasteners between top plates of stud wall and face nail top plates w/ 10d nails at 4" o.c.
Provide (2)-2 x studs at panel edges w/ panel fasteners staggered and face nail studs w/ 10d nails at 8" o.c.

Per the APA TR#157, minimum of 24" required under openings. Minimum of 12" WSP or 24" gypbd required above openings.
Height to width ratio of all wall piers shall be 3.5:1. Entire panel is sheathed with shear mat'l, including above and below
window openings. Shear panel type is determined by the "amplified" shear value q'. With this method, it is not necessary to
design for force transfer around openings, and straps are typically not required at the opening corners.
With multi-panel shearwalls, the value of q' is determined by :
