Welcome to SIHH

fter childhood and adolescence comes maturity as the

A Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), held

from January 18th to 22nd 2010, celebrates its twentieth
year. So much has been achieved over the course of these two
decades. The SIHH arose from a strategic decision, in 1991, to
showcase technical and precious watch brands. In these early
days, the SIHH was host to five brands exhibiting in 4,500 sq m.
Over the years, and as major groups have formed in the watch
sector, the event has continued to grow both in size and number
of exhibitors.

From 2005, the SIHH made its home in its very own City of Fine
Watchmaking, a prestigious 24,000 square-meter setting. The number of
exhibitors, including several independent watchmakers, culminates at 19 in
2010. Further highlights have been the themed exhibitions which the SIHH
has staged since its earliest editions, including Fine Watchmaking Celebrates
Sport, Fine Watchmaking: A Tribute to Women and Fine Watches for Land, Air
and Sea, alongside presentations by guest speakers such as Helmut Schmidt
and Javier Pérez de Cuéllar.

The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie presents, for its 20th anniver-
sary, Masterpieces from the Sandoz Collection, restored by Parmigiani Fleurier

As the organiser of the SIHH, the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie takes

particular pleasure in welcoming you for this anniversary edition. Despite
lacklustre export markets of recent months and the multiplication of events
in and outside Switzerland, the SIHH continues to play its fundamental role
as a fair for professionals in the Fine Watch sector. In doing so it confirms,
were it ever necessary, Geneva’s foremost status in this world of technology
and expertise.

Masterpieces from the Sandoz Collection

he Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie presents, for its 20th

T anniversary, Masterpieces from the Sandoz Collection, restored by

Parmigiani Fleurier. This exhibition presents some of the most out-
standing pieces, both technically and aesthetically, from the master watch-
makers, enamellers and jewellers of the past, including the Rochat brothers,
the Jaquet-Droz and Karl Fabergé. This bygone heritage is shown in the light
of the expertise of today's craftsmen and creators who, at Manufacture
Parmigiani in Fleurier, take inspiration from their predecessors whose mas-
terpieces they have restored. Mind and hand find continued expression in a
constant quest for excellence.

The watches and automata shown here are taken from the collection of
Maurice-Yves Sandoz, chemist, author, composer and patron of the arts.

Finally Automatic as well – the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC

With a totally new self-winding movement developed from the ground up,
the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC adds a further chapter to the success story of
A. Lange & Söhne’s most famous timepiece family. Its discreet distinguish-
ing feature is a mirrored dial layout. A retrograde day-of-week indication
forms the perfect counterpoint to the outsize date display.

SIHH 2010
The Royal Oak Offshore Grand Prix Chronograph limited edition embod-
ies the symbiotic relationship between watchmaking and motor racing: the
same passion for design, and the same incessant quest for mechanical per-
formance. It represents a concentrated blend of high-tech materials and
extreme concern for details. The dial counters resemble dashboard instru-
ments, the crown is shaped like a gear and the bezel evokes a ventilated disc
brake. Equipped with a proprietary selfwinding movement, this dynamic
model is a real treat for speed-lovers!

GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1966 CHRONOGRAPH

Girard-Perregaux’s latest creation offers a stylish take on traditional watch-

making, integrating a column-wheel chronograph in an elegant case from its
Girard-Perregaux 1966 collection.

Combining technical virtuosity and authentic design in the same vision of

perfection, this beautifully co-ordinated model is a consummate example of
the Manufacture’s wide-ranging expertise. In order to perfect the timeless
design of this watch, Girard-Perregaux opted for a traditional chronograph
with a 30-minute counter and central second hand. Developed and pro-
duced within the Manufacture, its column-wheel chronograph movement
comprises 304 components.

Greubel Forsey makes its first appearance
at the SIHH in 2010

For almost two decades, the inventor-watchmakers Robert Greubel and

Stephen Forsey, who are specialised in mechanical-watchmaking complica-
tions and most recently, the tourbillon, have a common vision of how to
develop fine watchmaking. Their association swiftly gave rise to a series of
fundamental inventions, which from 2004 onwards have been successively
housed within exceptional timepieces distinguished as much by their techni-
cal qualities as by the concern for fine workmanship inherent in their
approach. Newly installed in the original and innovative manufacture in
La Chaux-de-Fonds, the team of 63 highly qualified collaborators patiently
work together to contribute to the highly exquisite timepieces stemming
from the fundamental inventions: the Double Tourbillon 30°, the Tourbillon
24 secondes, and the Quadruple Tourbillon.

This year, Greubel Forsey is launching the Double Tourbillon Technique in

5N red gold, offering a full immersion into a three-dimensional sophisticated
and strikingly original horological mechanism.

PORTUGUESE YACHT CLUB CHRONOGRAPH

One of watchmaking’s genuine legends of the last century from IWC

Schaffhausen is now back in a new guise: the Portuguese Yacht Club
Chronograph introduces a sportingly elegant note into the Portuguese family
for the first time, with technical features that are quite impressive. This preci-
sion instrument with the well-established IWC-manufactured 89360-calibre
movement is water-resistant to 6 bar and is equipped with a screw-in crown
and a crown protection. Its chronograph permits the recording of aggregate
times of up to twelve hours on the counter for the minutes and hours and these
can be read like a normal time display. In spite of its sporting characteristics,
the new Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph remains a Portuguese that is true
to type with its consummately neat dial and Arabic numerals.

In 2010, as a further extension to the capacious premises now surrounding
Antoine LeCoultre’s original atelier, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be inaugurating a
new building providing 9,000 m2 of additional workshop space.

Nowadays, over 1000 people mastering over 40 watchmaking professions

and over 20 cutting-edge technologies continue to pay tribute to the pioneer-
ing spirit of the House founders by creating new masterpieces in harmony
with the grand watchmaking tradition.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has an impressive range of world firsts, superlatives and

legendary models to its credit, including the Reverso, the Atmos, the Master
Control, the Memovox, the Gyrotourbillon or the Extreme Lab. Each year,
la Grande Maison presents new creations illustrating the expertise and the
spirit of innovation characteristic of the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux.

This year, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates a world of exploration and invention

with its new rugged chronograph in the Extreme Lab series. The Manufacture
is launching the new Master Compressor Extreme LAB 2, a mechanical
Chronograph with GMT-function, especially developed for use in the most
extreme conditions. The new model unites sporting spirit with technical
prowess for a resolutely extreme design.

2TIMEZONES ZIRCONIUM

Featuring a dual time zone with a window at 12 o’clock displaying the sec-
ond time zone, this limited edition of 249 pieces is an invitation to journey
far and wide. The exclusively-styled 2TimeZones Zirconium combines an
in-house self-winding movement with an innovative zirconium case.

This model demonstrates JEANRICHARD’s commitment to developing its

own mechanisms as well as its on-going research into unusual materials:
almost unique in watchmaking, zirconium is a high-performance metal. It is
associated with a vulcanised rubber-coated steel bezel and titanium pushers
and crown-shields. The dynamic design is enhanced by a powdered effect
stamped dial and a black rubber-coated alligator strap.

Tradition Meets Future
Silicon Technology for the Montblanc
Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Silicon Escapement

In 2008, Montblanc introduced the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec

Chronograph, with the first watch movements produced entirely in-house at
the Montblanc Manufacture in Le Locle.

Two years later, the brand’s developers again outdo themselves by presenting
a new limited edition model, a symbiosis of the rebirth of the traditional
chronograph principle, the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph encasing
a movement in which the lever and escape-wheel are made of silicon, a mate-
rial that embodies state-of-the-art horological artistry.

With this innovation the Montblanc Manufacture unmistakably underscores

its intention of setting new accents in the technical inner lives of timepieces
and is proud to present a new wristwatch with innovative components crafted
from silicon at the heart of Montblanc’s manufacture Calibre MB R120.

The Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Silicon Escapement will remain

a rarity appreciated by Montblanc collectors.

RADIOMIR ORO ROSA - 42 MM

A new in-house calibre for a model that has already become part of Officine
Panerai’s history: the Radiomir oro rosa - 42 mm combines the unmistakable
design of an icon in high-end, sport watches with a new mechanical move-
ment, the P.999, designed and produced at the Neuchâtel manufacture. The
new hand-wound calibre, with a thickness of 3.4 mm, features a 60-hour
power reserve. Each single movement is millesimied and it wears the so-called
“swan’s neck” device, allowing for micrometrical adjustment of the active
length of the spring. The case in pink gold is 42 mm in diameter. The warm
feel of the satin-finished gold emphasizes the dark brown colour of the dial,
which has the “sandwich” structure typical of Panerai watches.

SIHH 2010
THE BUGATTI ATALANTE flyback chronograph

Continuing the Bugatti saga which began in 2001 with the creation of the
now legendary Type 370 wristwatch, Parmigiani is today introducing a new
Bugatti collection named Atalante, the first model in which is a women’s
flyback chronograph.

Inspired by the world of automobile design, the profile of its case evokes the
air intakes found on the side wings of sports vehicles. The chronograph
push-pieces are positioned on the left of the case to make them easy to use
mid-race. The dial itself is directly inspired by the aesthetics of a car’s grille.
The Calibre PF 335, made entirely in-house, represents the next evolution-
ary step for the first house chronograph movement – adding a flyback func-
tion for the chronograph. The women’s Bugatti Atalante model in platinum
is set with 68 brilliant cut diamonds on the case (1.1 ct) and 146 diamonds
on the dial (0.65 ct).

Piaget Altiplano 43 mm

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of its legendary Calibre

12P, the world’s thinnest mechanical self-winding movement at that time,
the Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget is presenting the Piaget
Altiplano 43 mm equipped with the 1208P calibre. Because it stems from
the expertise in ultra-thin movements that has become a hallmark of the
Piaget style, this 13 ¼-lignes mechanism once again sets new limits by
becoming the thinnest self-winding movement currently on the market, at
2.35 mm. Loyal to its tradition of fine craftsmanship, the Manufacture de
Haute Horlogerie Piaget has made a point of honour of treating its new
ultra-thin calibre to exceptional finishing: in addition to the bevelled bridges
adorned with Côtes de Genève and blued screws, the 1208P also features cir-
cular satin-brushed wheels as well as a dedicated index-assembly bearing the
P for Piaget like a secret signature. The latest Altiplano model features a new
43 mm-diameter case size and is just 5.25 mm thick, making it the thinnest
watch in its category.

RALPH LAUREN SLIM CLASSIQUE 42 mm –
TWO ROWS OF DIAMONDS

The Ralph Lauren Slim Classique Collection’s superbly slender silhouette

reflects a sleek modernity, while the detailing and workmanship recall a
bygone era of style. With timepieces that represent some of traditional
watchmaking’s signature elements, the Ralph Lauren Slim Classique
Collection offers unmatched sophistication with delicate, hand-guided guil-
loché and an extremely thin case.

For 2010, Ralph Lauren introduces the Ralph Lauren Slim Classique model
featuring a stunning diamond-set bezel. This jeweled creation in white gold,
42 mm in diameter, showcases a bezel adorned with two rows of 96 round,
brilliant-cut diamonds, for a total of 192 gems. Each precious stone is grain
set, and placed in staggered inner and outer rows to form a virtually continuous
surface of diamonds, providing maximum scintillation and fire.

RM 028

Following the trend set out by the first Richard Mille diver’s watch, the RM 025,
the RM 028 utilises a number of key elements inspired by the success of its
forebear. Cased in a slightly smaller diameter of 47 mm, this new piece
incorporates the brand’s DNA.

Its exceptional tripartite circular case, with unidirectional bezel, water resist-
ant to 300 meters follows ISO norm 6425, the RM 028 creates a perfect
environment housing the skeletonised movement with automatic winding
movement and variable rotor geometry, a Richard Mille exclusivity.

This exceptional timepiece is available in titanium with screwed titanium

lugs and a rubber strap.

Excalibur pays tribute to the Minute Repeater

Housed in its 45 mm rose gold case, the Excalibur collection celebrates the
most delicate of its complications: the minute repeater.

While the identifying characteristics of this icon have been redesigned – with
even more dynamic fluting on the bezel and the harmonious marriage of the
crown-shield with the case middle – the model has lost none of its appealing
features. Much of the impeccable ‘Poinçon de Genève’ finishing on the com-
plex movement can be admired through the openworked dial. The tourbil-
lon, positioned at 5 o’clock, is decorated with a rose gold ring encircled with
fine grey lines, while two flanges, one in black punctuated with a white
minute circle and a second in anthracite with twelve rose gold appliques, give
the dial greater depth.

The hand-sewn alligator strap is enhanced with a rose gold folding clasp.
This exclusive model is offered in a limited series of 28 pieces.

the scene for two lovers who mark the time as their romantic stroll brings
them closer and closer, until they finally meet. Moving to a retrograde
movement, each character advances towards the other until midnight: they
come together at last, celebrating their eternal love.”
