The holiday season is upon us, and the holiday spirit is in the air at DIFC! From the UAE National Day
to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, there is much to celebrate in the coming month. We have covered
it all, from shopping for gifts for special loved ones to intimate dinner celebrations with friends and
family – DIFC is the perfect location to enjoy these festive occasions.

We’ve got a calendar packed with free ‘behind the scenes’ DIFC tours, exhibitions including a special
art exhibition to honour the 38th UAE National Day, retail promotions and fabulous offers from
selected food and beverage outlets, including special discounts for customers carrying their Metro
card.

Last month we saw a great response to our ‘Body Balance under the Gate’ classes in partnership with
Fitness First. The cool breezes and idyllic setting under the iconic Gate Building made for a memorable
experience as participants were led through an hour long programme that combined Yoga, Tai Chi

What’s New

DIFC Tour
DIFC’s iconic architecture, diverse dining options and chic retail offerings make it one of
Dubai’s unique lifestyle destinations and a popular place for visitors from across the UAE
and abroad. Given this interest in the Centre, DIFC has put together a free guided tour
programme for visiting guests.

Our guides will lead the group through a walking tour of the Centre, offering an inside
look into the operations of the Centre. Tour highlights include a visit to the DIFC
Courts, the Retail Spine and the Gate Village. Guests will have the opportunity to
take photos of iconic buildings around the Centre, such as the Gate Building, as well
as a chance to shop, dine and explore the art galleries. The DIFC Tour will run every
Thursday at 3pm for approximately 2 hours.

With our mix of high-fashion, contemporary art and exceptional dining the DIFC
offers a distinctive experience of the city quite unlike any other destination.

UAE National Day – 38 years as a nation

In 1971, 6 Emirates came together under the leadership of HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to form the United Arab
Emirates, with the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah joining the following year to complete the federation of 7 Emirates. In these
38 years, the UAE has seen great achievements, memorable events and many successes. Events to mark the 38th National
Day will detail the history, culture, spirit and achievements of the federation.

Art Exhibitions

“38” (November 19 – December 30)

From the private collection of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the
UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the “38” exhibition showcases the artworks of 38 contemporary Arab artists from across the Arab
world. Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development on the occasion of the 38th UAE National
Day, the exhibition will be open for viewing for 38 days.

Artspace Gallery: Kamal Boullata Exhibition (December 9 – December 31)

A collection of paintings will be on display by Palestinian painter and writer Kamal Boullata. Boullata, who is work is well
regarded around the world and he is considered one of Palestine’s great modernist artists. His works are in the public
collections of important institutions like The British Museum, London; Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris; NewYork Public
Library, New York; The Khalid Shoman Foundation, Amman; Jordan National Gallery, Amman; Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah
and the Bibliothèque Louis Notari, Monaco. Kamal Boullata is also known for writings on Arab and Palestinian art, which he
has published books on and written articles which have appeared in exhibition catalogues, anthologies and periodicals.

The Empty Quarter: The Dark Lens – The Dubai Invasion by Cedric Delsaux (December 8 – December 31)
The Empty Quarter Fine Art Photography Gallery, in association with acte2galerie proudly presents The Dark Lens – The
Dubai Invasion by Cedric Delsaux. In Delsaux’s digital photographs, mythical movie magic meets reality. This emerging
French photographer deploys Star Wars models and even uses material and costumes from George Lucas’ special effect
model makers, and stages these in sumptuous shots of contemporary urban architecture. In 2008, Delsaux came to Dubai
to finalise this hugely successful series, the results of which will be on view in the Gallery.

An opening reception will be held on December 8th, from 7-10 pm.

With the unveiling of four outstanding Qur’ans, The Farjam Collection extends its Holy Qur’an Exhibition to December.

MONEYworks Art & Bronze Exhibition (November 23 – December 15)

The MONEYworks Bronze & Art Exhibition will be open to visitors at the Emperor Hall in DIFC. Among the central pieces
of attraction at the exhibition will be Constantin Brancusi’s bronze sculpture “Mademoiselle Pogany II” and Pablo Picasso’s
“Tete de Femme, Fernande”, which is one of the final bronze casts of the artist’s model Fernande Oliver. The Bronze & Art
Exhibition will showcase over a hundred art pieces with a total worth, at current valuations, well in excess of US $50 million.
The MONEYworks Group of Magazines has arranged with private art collectors globally to display the pieces, which use
different mediums, including bronze, oil on canvas, wood, aluminium and mixed media.

Opera Gallery: Alekos Fassianos and Timur D’vatz Exhibition (December 10 – December 24)
A joint exhibition of works by artists Alekos Fassianos and Timur D’vatz.

Alekos Fassianos – a renowned Greek painter who draws his subjects from Greek myths, Fayum portraits, Byzantine icons
and the shadow theatre. His work has been shown at a number of solo exhibitions both in Greece and abroad.

Timur D’vatz – a figurative painter born in Moscow, Russia, who studied at the Republican College of Art, Tashkent, and is
a Post-Graduate of Royal Academy Schools, London.

An opening reception will be held on December 10th, where the artists will be present.
