The stores are already stocked with Christmas merchandise, the decorations are
going up and Christmas carols are playing in stores and on the radio. I hear from
many people that Christmas inspires two main feelings - joy and dread. This Advent and Christmas season, Id like for us to experience the joy without the
dread. Weve created a simpler calendar of worship and events designed to let
us move towards Christmas from an unhurried posture of reflection and contemplation so were not worn out from Christmas before Dec. 25th even arrives!
I hope youll make our life together at Central a priority during the coming season so that this season is a time of rich blessing for you and those you love.

Church Family
Thank you....
From the Bathory Family
Our family wants to thank everybody for helping
make Bill's memorial service so special. It was so
joyful and uplifting and it helped to ease some of
our pain. The ladies of the church worked hard to
provide the delicious lasagna that everybody raved
about. We feel very lucky to be part of such a caring congregation. The Bathory Family

Dear Central Family & Friends,

Many thanks for your prayers, cards and thoughts
during my recovery. A special thanks to Glenn &
Donna Mae Kerns for their many cards and phone
calls.
George Cowley

I thank all of you for the prayers, cards, calls, visits, e-mails and Facebook postings. My hip is healing well and I had a blessed birthday.
Tom Diehl

I would like to thank everyone who has been

praying for my mom since she was diagnosed with
cancer. It means a lot to both of us! She especially
wanted me to convey how much your prayers,
caring words, cards, and concern have meant to
her over the past few weeks.
Your love and kindness have helped us get thru
some difficult days.
With grateful hearts,
Sandy Wilson and Donnann Shadle

May I express my thanks to the congregation? The

Pork and Sauerkraut event is a true example of
team effort paying dividends - all I did was play
the role of conductor to a great group of volunteers ..
.a REALLY great group of volunteers.
My sincere thanks to all,
Ingrid Herbert

MenMark Your Calendars! Men's Morning Bible Study continues to

meet on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Texas Lunch (down the
street from Central) at 7:00am for breakfast then gather in the Parlor at Central
for Bible Study at 8am. Come Study the Bible and enjoy fellowship with your
brothers at Central!
The Genesis Bible Study Class has changed its name to Bible Books Study Class to more accurately reflect our study and discussions. In the Beginning in May 2009 we started with Genesis
hence the name. After completing Genesis we have studied and discussed Exodus; 1st, 2nd & 3
John; Jude; Ruth; 1st & 2nd Timothy; Titus; Daniel; Romans; Acts; Esther; James; and now studying and discussing Joshua. Our discussions and study go in to some depth, for example in Joshua we have discovered that despite the song Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho it was not really military (except for the marching) but a Religious Ceremony dictated by the Lord. Come join
our discussions at 1100 on Sunday in Room 122 and help us discover more about our Lord and
the ways we can serve Him.

Thank you to all who filled an Operation Christmas Child box with gifts. Your
thoughtfulness and love will bring a smile to many children and give them Hope
and Joy. 33 boxes from Central will now spread the love of Jesus Christ around
the world. If you took a box and were unable to fill it, please return it to church so
it can be used next year. Over 5,000 boxes were filled by local churches last year.
Mothers Day Out will be inviting our families to come to Central on December 17 th & 18th for our
annual Christmas program. This year, we have decided to host a cookie reception after the singing
portion of our program. We are in need of Centrals fabulous bakers to volunteer to bake some
cookies for our reception! Cookies can be brought to the kitchen December 16th and please clearly
mark the containers with masking tape saying for MDO by (your name). This way we can be sure to
get the container back to you after our reception. In addition, we have some children with peanut
allergies, so please keep these cookies separate and clearly mark them as having peanut butter and/or nuts!
If you are able to help make cookies please contact MDO at 264-4113, ext. 116, or email Shelley Marangoni
(dsmarangoni@comcast.net) or Kathy Klink (klinkpk@comcast.net).
Cold Weather Drop In Shelter Meals: An opportunity is available to provide a warm
meal on a cold night to homeless members of our community. Central continues to
reach out and help where needed as we provide meals the first and third
Fridays from December through March at the Cold Weather Drop in Shelter located
at 195 Loudon St. Eight warm nourishing meals for hungry men and women of our
community. Meals and a beverage should be delivered to the shelter at 7:00. The shelter provides
utensils and dishes. All we have to do is deliver the meal. Bring the meals in disposable containers. There is a sign up sheet on the Mission bulletin board across from the office. This is a wonderful
opportunity to serve our community. Partner with another family to share the meal preparation. If
you have any questions please call Bill McKelvie at 477-2132.

Central will be ringing Bells again this year for the Salvation Army. We will be
ringing at the Butcher Shoppe on Saturday Dec 5 from 11 am to 7 pm. This is a
great location to ring because you will be inside! There is a sign up sheet on the
Mission bulletin board across from the office. We need 2 ringers per hour so please
sign up for 1 or 2 hour shifts. If you have any questions please call Bill McKelvie
at 477-2132. A little bit of time will go a long way for those less fortunate in our
community.

Its so exciting! It can also be so draining. My prayer for all of us is that we do all of the things that make
holidays so special, but also, that we look around. By all means, lets shop till we drop if we choose to, but
lets also take time to look at the faces around us and to see Jesus in those people. Jesus is the reason that
we celebrate Christmas, and yet we often forget that He came for every single human yes, the cashiers, the
line-cutters, the baristas, the waiters, the Santa Claus and elves at the mall, the moms, the dads, the slow
drivers, and the scrooges. Each one. Let us not neglect His beloved.
Updates:
Centrals youth basketball team has come back! Under the very handsome coaching of Nick Adams, the guys
practice on Monday nights from 6:30-7:30pm! Games are every week on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 9pm.
See Erin for a full schedule! Come cheer us on!
Our youth Christmas party is December 20th! If youd like to donate your time, talents, or food, we welcome
your generosity!
Our youth have been reaching out to the local community (nursing home residents and families in need) on
the 2nd Sunday of every month. If you know of a local family or organization in need, please see Erin.
In November, we had a joint lock-in with St. Pauls United Methodist Church! How fun! We are grateful for
the doors God is opening to join together with other believers in fellowship and spiritual growth. We are all
part of the body of Christ!
If you are interested in mentoring one of our teenagers, we are still looking for adult volunteers! Did you
know that in order for young people to stick with their faith after high school, studies are showing that the
average young person needs a minimum of 5 meaningful adult relationships supporting them in their faith
journeys!? Thats a big deal! Let Erin know if youd like to jump on board!

Contemporary Worship:
We will be doing things a little differently this Advent/Christmas season!
Some of our families will be leading us in an Advent liturgy, meditation, and
response, along with the candle lighting! We are excited to share with you
what God has given us!

Please join us each

News from Childrens Ministry at Central

Come on up to the 3rd floor and see us anytime!!
Wed love to tell you about Jesus and
how we are growing deeper in our faith!

KID MISSIONS!
Meet Lakota one of the two Navajo brothers our children support.
Here he is gathering eggs from the barn at the Four Corners Home
for Children in Farmington, New Mexico where he lives.
(see picture below)
We get Creative about money for Missions!
Dont think you have any money to donate? Check out these creative
ways to share with those in need:

Three of our girls Lauren

Markle, Natalie Markle and
Ellie Miller spent time raking
leaves in their neighborhood.
They earned $65.00 which they donated to help Zach
and Lakota!! WOW!

Also, Jack and Stuart Kier have a habit of throwing

their spare change into a basket. Over time that spare
change adds up. They gave the basket of change to
Kid Ministry to go to our Navajo boys. It came to a
total of $169.02!!! WOW!

These extra donations are in Gods perfect timing as the

Mission prepares to provide Thanksgiving meals and
Christmas presents for all the children there. Want to
help out? There are donation jars in the church foyer and
on the 3rd floor - or talk to Sandy. Check out the mission
website at www.NavajoMinistries.org.
NURSERY STAFF POSITION OPEN!
We are looking for a person who loves Jesus, loves babies and
toddlers, and is kind and patient to fill an opening in our Nursery
Staff. This is a paid
position 3 hours, every other Sunday morning. Background
check and interview are required. Please contact Sandy Wilson at
kidsmin@centralonthesquare.org. if you are interested in being
part of our wonderful Nursery Ministry!

October contributions were $34,413 which is below average and necessitated withdrawing an additional $20,000 from our investment principle to meet our expenses. Expenses for October were
$17,500 greater than our contributions to the operating budget. Since this is now December, please
review your giving versus your pledge for 2015 and help us meet our budget obligations without needing to further reduce our trust dollars. December is also the last month of the two year capital campaign so this is another pledge to review. One interesting trend for 2015 is that approximately 10% of
2015 annual giving for the year of the program is either through direct deposit from individual checking accounts or by credit card using PayPal via the church website. If you have questions about either
your pledges or making use of direct deposit or credit card giving, please contact Don Wissner, Tim
Miller or Missy Igou at the church office.

The Diaper Depot @ Central continues to serve

over 100 families a month. Our doors will open on
Saturday, December 19th at 10am.
This is a ministry to not only give diapers to families in need, but a connection point with many in our
downtown community to build relationships and provide a safe place for both adults and their children.
How can you be a part of it?
1. Pray! Pray for the team working with these families. Pray for the families who enter our
doors. Pray for the supply of diapers to be abundant. Pray for this ministry to continue to open
the arms of Christ to our community.
2. Provide diapers or financial support! Your contributions are so appreciated.
3. Spread the word! Tell your friends about what we are doing and invite them to join our
efforts by having a diaper drive through their church or local organizations.
4. Get involved! There are opportunities to get involved in several ways: Become a Saturday
team member. Help prepare the diapers on Thursday November 12th at 10am in the Parlor.
Please contact Dani Kardisco, danikardisco@gmail.com or Sue Stahl, susan.stahl@casdonline.org
Want to see what it's all about- please consider stopping by around 10am this Saturday to see
what God is doing through this ministry to help us fulfill our mission on the square.
