: The descent of government

a. What is the news?

46% Indonesian stated that they didnt trust the current government. 90%
Indonesian said that the current problems happening in our country its all
caused by corruption. people need more good people to get their hand dirty
in the grisly world of politic.
b. Where does it take place?
Indonesia, it is all about the governmental system and its member.
c. When does it happen?
People believe that problems getting worst in the second period of SBY
regimes. They also do not trust that in these 2 years left, SBY could even
reduce those problems of eradicating corruptions.
d. Who are the doers?
The main actor is our president, SBY. Because he was the one who declare
that he would eradicate and stop the proliferation of corruption but no proof.
When the leader cant lead us so well, government also couldnt govern the
country as well. It encompasses the DPRs members, civil servant, and
society.

e. Why does it happen?

The news stated that it happens because the unsolved problem of eradicating
corruptions. It is social issue No.1. Furthermore, corruption is used as a tool
to gain society interest when it is near by the election. They promote that
they could diminish corruption from country. unfortunately, it was just a
temporary promise that hasnt been fulfilled yet.
f. How does it happen?
When people witnesses the close associates of president are accused of
corruption, one after another, bad judge are cast into the democracy values
because people would not put so much consideration upon who are guilty,

INTERNATIONAL ISSUES
TOPIC : HAS UN LOST ITS PEACEKEEPING MANDATE?
a. What is the news?
Talks about the action that was perform by UN towards the conflict happening
in Syria that was considered as non-peacekeeping action while UN frankly has
the mandate to keep peace and prevent aggression and other peacekeeping
action that is not addressed to settle conflict down.
b. Where does it take place?
Syria, Sudan, and some other countries that are dealing with conflict.
c. When does it happen?
Actually those kind of action has been done since several years ago but it
doesnt work as what weve expected. For example These days, violence still
flares in the Democratic Republic of the Congo despite a U.N. presence dating
back to July 2010 that now numbers over 23,000 personnel (including 19,000
in uniform) and a budget of $1.4 billion.
d. Who are the doers?
The UN security council and the leader of the country where the army would
come in.
e. Why does it happens?
Because Security Council resolutions, sanctions and other tools of the
diplomatic trade do very little to change the on-the-ground reality of war.

f.

Arms continue flowing across porous borders despite calls for embargoes.
Furthermore, total budget allocated for those peacekeeping step is very
disproportionate with the result we gain.
How does it happen?
In the 1990s, U.N. forces were withdrawn in the face of overwhelming
evidence of Rwandan genocidal atrocities. In Kosovo, it took then President
Bill Clinton committing U.S. forces to protect a Muslim minority from being
massacred by their neighbors. Another case, To keep the peace in Darfur,
Sudan (17,000 military) and newly created South Sudan (over 5,500) the U.N.
is spending nearly $2.5 billion. And with all those forces in place, tens of
thousands still flee fighting as the humanitarian situation continues to
worsen. That were examples of UNs peacekeeping action with less intention
to maintain the peace of the world.
