Questionnaire

LTE RF Design
Questionnaire of Required Information
The following provides a checklist of information that is required for an LTE RF system
design. Any unique additional items required for the specific project should also be
included.

Project and Customer Contact Information

Please provide the project name and associated customer contact information.

General Project Information

Please provide the following project specifications for use in the LTE RF design.
Any documentation that has an impact upon the service area, RF link budget and system
capacity should be included.

Design Goals and Objectives

General Description for the Design Goal(s)
Provide list of all the objectives and requirements.

Market Information
Is the design for a Greenfield market, expansion to an existing market, or a new service
area? If the design is for an expansion or new market, please attach the assumptions used
in the previous market design, if it is desired to use the same assumptions.

LTE RF Design
Questionnaire
Coverage (Service) Area Definition
Image or Map indicating the desired Coverage
(Service) Area, it should also indicate the following
areas:
- Critical regions within the desired Coverage
Area requiring coverage
- Excluded areas (regions within the service area
that do not require coverage)

Design Restrictions
Definition of what is considered coverage (e.g. is a specific site edge data rate required)
List of any design restrictions (e.g. not to exceed a set antenna height, use only sites from a
specified list, etc.)
List of desired sites, if applicable. If a site list is included, it should contain detailed
information for each site (e.g. site locations, antenna heights, antenna gains, antenna
orientations, antenna downtilts, line losses, ERP, etc.).

Design Specifications
Level of Area Reliability (e.g. 90%)
User Mobility (Fixed, Nomadic, Mobile, Portable)
User Environment (In building, In Vehicle, etc.)
Body Loss (dB)
Vehicle or Building Penetration Loss (dB)

Capacity Expectations
Population Density polygons (indicating areas with
expected number of users and capacity usage)
Target Cell Edge Uplink Rate (kbps)
Target Cell Edge Downlink Rate (kbps)
Data Type
(e.g. FTP, HTML, Streaming, Gaming)
Information concerning the typical subscriber profile
[i.e. the typical load on the system in terms of data
usage (average Mbps per sub) and VoIP usage
(Erlangs per sub)].
Uplink / Downlink Traffic Mix (i.e. UL Mbps / DL Mbps)
Percentage of VoIP to Data users ( i.e. VoIP Erl / DL
Mbps)
Codec for VoIP subscribers [e.g. G711 (64k), G729
(8k), etc.]

Amount of Spectrum Available
(e.g. 1920 to 1980 MHz UL; 2110 to 2170 MHz DL
1900 to 1920 MHz TDD)
Verification that the Spectrum is clear of interference

(e.g. WBR 500f, WBR 500r)
MS (Mobile Station) hardware preference
(e.g. Outdoor CPE, Indoor CPE, USB device, Mobile)

Propagation Model
Propagation Model preference, if any

Antenna Heights
