1. VISHKUMBHA (Cancer 03 20 to 16 40)


Vishkumbha means a jar of poison. Poison can be used as
an antidote and for wrong purposes - it can make a person
bitter so one has to be aware of this tendency and remember to keep the bitterness under control. If frustrations and
bitterness are allowed to fester they will bring uncertainty.
This yoga also gives wealth and the will to succeed, competitiveness, and happiness from spouse and family. These
people like to travel and are very conscious of their physical
beauty but can pay too much attention to outer looks
rather than the inner person.

8. PUSHYA: The Star of Nourishment


Pushya is considered to be the most auspicious of the twenty-seven lunar mansions. The symbols for this asterism are a
lotus, circle, arrow and the udder of the sacred cow. The
ancient name of Pushya in the Rig Veda was Tishya, the
Celestial Archer. It has a Deva temperament with the
primary motivation of Dharma, or right action. The ruling
planet is Shani, or Saturn, which grounds the energy of this
powerful Nakshatra.
Pushya is ruled by Brihaspati, the God of Divine Wisdom. Its
power is the ability to create spiritual energy (Brahmavarchasa Shakti). Its basis above is sacrificial worship. Its basis
below is the worshipper. These three result in the creation of
spiritual energy.
Pushya Nakshatra increases our good Karma and good
efforts. The value of this Nakshatra for religious and spiritual practices is emphasized. Brihaspati is the lord of speech,
particularly prayer, and of all forms of worship, including
meditation, so these indications are all in harmony with his
functions.
Brihaspati desired, "May I possess the splendor of spiritual
knowledge". One who makes the appropriate offering to
Brihaspati, to Pushya, gains the splendor of spiritual knowledge.
Pushya connects us with spiritual knowledge, but also
religion, ritual and morality in general. Through it the good
overcomes the evil.
Pushya Career Interests: Government and political
positions. Corporate leaders and heads of state. Military
and police work, lawyers and judges. Musicians, poets and
artists. Geologists, dairy industry and aquatic biologists.
Spiritual teachers and clergy.
Pushya is formed by North and South Aselli, the two
donkeys, which reflect the manger and the birth of the
Christ child which occurs under the spiritual energy of this
benefic lunar mansion.
O wise Maruts, let us carry off the wealth of food which
you have bestowed on us; give us, O Maruts, such thousand
fold wealth as never fails, like the star Tishya (Pushya) from
heaven Rig Veda, V.55.13

22. SHRAVAN: The Star of Learning


Shravan translates as the hearing, with its primary
symbol being an ear. It is a Deva, or Godly Nakshatra that
has the capacity to hear the astral sounds of Krishnas flute,
and the celestial bells or the cosmic OM. The natives of this
asterism usually have brilliant minds and the capacity to
study other cultures and spiritual dimensions. Material
success is a result of the primary motivation of this asterism
being Artha or wealth.
Shravana is ruled by Vishnu, the Pervador. Its power is that
of connection (Samhanana Shakti). Its basis above is seeking. Its basis below are the paths. The result of these three is
the connection of all things together.
Shravan enables us to link people together by connecting
them to their appropriate paths in life. This requires receptivity and listening, and results in understanding and aspiration. Vishnu with his three strides links together the three
worlds of Earth, Atmosphere and Heaven, connecting all
creatures with the Gods.
Vishnu desired, "May I hear people say good words about
me. May I not gain any bad regard". One who makes the
appropriate offering to Vishnu, to Shravan, hears good
words about himself and does not come to any bad regard.
Those born under Shravan are concerned about what
people say about them and about their public reputation.
They will strive to keep themselves in good repute. They
are sensitive about the opinions of others.
Shravan Career Interests: Teachers, speech therapists,
linguists. Astrologers, religious scholars, priests. Politicians,
business skill, recording industry. Professors, researchers,
travel industry. Geologists.
Shravan is formed by three stars in the head of the Eagle
constellation, Aquilla.

10. GANDA (Scorpio 03 20 to 16 40)


Ganda means a knot. It represents a Karmic knot in the
nature of the individual that needs spiritual understanding
to unravel. It is not as difficult as the Atiganda Yoga, but it
gives discontentment. It obstructs on the subtle psychological level and sometimes does not allow these people to
develop spiritually. This Yoga can spoil the nature and
character if allowed to evolve. Hot temper, nastiness,
deception and harshness are some of the negative traits
that can develop. Material greed can be one of the spiritual knots Ganda needs to unravel. Ganda Yoga people are
better off focusing on their positive forces like being friendly, talkative, truthful, serious, strong, eloquent and lucky.
They must feel blessed by what they achieve rather than
feel unhappy about what they don't.

17. ANURADHA: The Star of Success


Anuradha is symbolized by a lotus flower, reflecting the
ability to blossom in any life situation. The primary deity is
Mitra, the God of Friendship and Partnership. Anuradha
individuals have the great ability to gather people together for social and spiritual activities. Anuradha has a Deva
temperament with the primary motivation of Dharma or
right action. The ruling planet is Shani or Saturn, which
gives tenacity and discipline when needed.
Anuradha is ruled by Mitra, the Divine Friend. It gives the
power of worship (Radhana Shakti). Its basis above is
ascension. Its basis below is descension. From these three
honor and abundance is gained.
Anuradha Nakshatra gives balance in relationship, both
honoring others and seeking ourselves to be honorable,
through which we acquire fame and recognition. Mitra
indicates compassion, devotion and right relationship.
Mitra desired, "May I be regarded as a friend in all the
worlds". One who makes the appropriate offering to Mitra,
to Anuradha, becomes regarded as a friend in all these
worlds.
Those born under Anuradha want to be friends with everyone. They are emotionally sensitive to others and place the
welfare of others over their own.
Anuradha Career Interests: Organizational skills, business
management. Travel industry, conference planners. Actors,
musicians, public speakers. Dentists, surgeons and medical
technicians. Mining Engineers, plumbers. Criminal lawyers
and political leaders.
Anuradha contains three stars in the body of the Scorpion
including Alpha Centauri, the closest star to our solar
system.

4. ROHINI: The Star of Ascent


The symbols of this asterism are a chariot, a temple and a
banyan tree. Rohini provides movement toward the divine
as well as a place of worship. The sacred banyan tree is the
home of the Goddess of the ancient Indus Valley civilization. It has a Manushya, or Human temperament, with a
primary motivation of Moksha, or spiritual liberation. The
divine Krishna is said to have had both his Moon and
Ascendant in this lunar mansion.
Rohini is ruled by Prajapati, the Creator. Its power is
growth (Rohana Shakti). Its basis above is the plants and
below is the waters. The result of these three is creation.
Rohini Nakshatra allows for growth and creation on all
levels, bestowing great fertility. However it also evokes
some degree of jealousy because others may resent that a
person gains such abundance. More over it can increase
desire. But these are only side effects to its great prosperity.
Prajapati is the creator who can bestow everything so we
should be careful what we want.
Prajapati created creatures but thus created they went
way. Of them he thought about Rohini. He desired, "May
she approach me. May we unite together". One who makes
the appropriate offering to Prajapati, to Rohini, his
beloved approaches him and he unites with her.
Rohini is a Nakshatra of love, passion and sexuality that is
generally fertile and creative, but not inclined to tolerate
limits. Because of this it is very productive for almost everything but can draw jealously upon it.
Rohini Career Interests: Fashion designers, models and
actors. Artists, poets, writers, musicians, and dancers.
Restaurant, hotel management and dignified positions of
authority. Agriculture, food products, herbalists and real
estate. Politicians and consultants.
Rohini, known as the red one correlates with the rose star
Aldeberan, the red eye of the Bull constellation.

19. PARIGHA (Pisces 03 20 to 16 40)


Parigha means a bar, a barrier or a hindrance. It also
means a cloud crossing the Sun, indicating sudden shadows
in an otherwise bright life. Again this malefic yoga shows
the individual's potential to hinder or block themselves.
These people are strong, powerful, compassionate, brave,
generous and well spoken, able to achieve what they sent
their mind to, yet their weakness of being economical with
the truth and not caring about keeping good company,
together with anger and aggression, can be their
hindrance, stopping them benefiting from their good qualities.

26. UTTARA BHADRAPADA: The Warrior Star


The symbols for Uttara Bhadrapada are the last two legs of
a funeral cot, or twins. Bhradrapada translates as the
scorching or burning pair related to the twin Nakshatras of Purva and Uttara Bhadrapada. A woman born
with Uttara Bhadrapada as her birth star is considered
blessed by the goddess Lakshmi, and is considered the gem
of her family. The animal symbol is the sacred female cow
of India. Uttara Bhadrapada has a Human, or Manushya
temperament with a primary motivation of Kama, or
healthy pleasures. The ruling planet, Saturn, provides great
depth and spiritual discipline.
Uttara Bhadrapada is ruled by Ahir Budhnya, the serpent
of the depths of the Atmosphere. Its power is the bringing of
the rain (Varshodyamana Shakti). Its basis above is the
raining clouds. Its basis below growing of the plants. From
these three factors the three worlds gain their stability.
Uttara Bhadrapada grants growth and prosperity in a
broad way, benefiting the entire world. This makes it very
auspicious. Ahir Budhnya is the benefic serpent who brings
the rain, connecting us with the creative powers at the
foundations of the world.
Ahir Budhnya desired, "May I find a foundation". One who
makes the appropriate offering to Ahir Budhnya, to Uttara
Bhadrapada, gains a foundation.
Uttara Bhadrapada grants a firm foundation in life,
connecting us with the wellsprings of vitality, the serpent
who dwells in the middle of the sea.
Uttara Bhadrapada Career Interests: Charitable work,
non-profit organizations. Import and exports, travel industry. Religious work, priests, saints, astrologers, mystics. Writers, philosophers, teachers, researchers.
Uttara Bhadrapada is associated with the stars Pegasi and
Andromedae which complete the square of the constellation of Pegasus.

13. HASTA: The Hand


The symbol for this Nakshatra is the palm of the hand.
Hasta natives can have great dexterity and are skilled with
the healing arts, and with handicrafts. Hasta is ruled by the
Moon, and in the sign of Virgo, ruled by Mercury, reflecting
the very mental, intellectual nature of this lunar mansion.
It has a Deva temperament with a primary motivation of
Moksha, or spiritual liberation.
Hasta is ruled by Savitar, the creative form of the Sun God.
He is called the golden handed one. Its power is the ability to gain what we are seeking and place it in our own
hands (Hasta Sthapaniya Agama Shakti). Its basis above is
the seeking of gain. Its basis below is the process of gaining.
These three together place what one wishes to gain in ones
own hand.
Hasta gives the ability to achieve our goals in a complete
and immediate manner. Such goals are usually creative in
nature. Savitar is the creative will that builds up the
universe with all of its beauty. His productions are most
wonderful.
Savitar desired, "May the Gods place their faith in me". One
who makes the appropriate offering to Savitar, to Hasta,
men place faith in him. He becomes the Sun among his
peers.
People born under Hasta want to be believed in and want
others to have faith in them. They regard themselves as
capable of great achievements and can serve to rally and
inspire people around them.
Hasta Career Interests: Craftsmen, artists and painters.
Scholars, teachers, comedians, performers and writers.
Hospital and volunteer work, public relations. Advisors,
ministers, counselors and psychotherapists. Astrologers,
palm readers, healers. Sales, communications and
networking skills. Travel industry, conference planners.
Hasta is formed by five stars (fingers) in the constellation of
Corvus, the crow.
