Purpose
ThepurposeofthispageistoprovideusefulinfoonLocationwithintheSAPMasterDatacontextandonhowtomanage/maintainsame.

Overview
Alocationisaplaceororganizationalunitatwhichquantitiesofproductsorresourcesaremanaged.
LocationistheotheressentialmasterdataelementinAPOplanning.Aswellasproductitisalsousedbyalltheadvancedprocesseslikelocationproduct(orproductlocation),model,planningversion,
transportationlanes.
Everylocationhasaddressdatatoo:AddressdataisnotstoredtogetherwithAPOlocationintheAPOdatabaselayerbutintheSAPBasislayer.APOlocationsuseupaddressdatafromthere.
IftheLocationisnotcreateddirectlyinAPObuttransferredviaCIFfromR/3thentheERPVendor,ERPCustomer,ERPPlantwillbeconvertedtoanAPOLocation(withaspecificLoc.Type).

1. YoucanusetheAPOtrasaction:/N/SAPAPO/LOC3.Pleaseseethefollowing:TESTCASE
2. YoucantransferlocationviatheCrossInterfaceFunction(CIF)fromECC(ERP)system.ItisrelatedtoBusinessPartnerandLocationCIFtransfer.
3. YoucanuseMASSDtransactionforbatchprocessingoflocations

canstillbefoundinthe/SAPAPO/LOCtable.

LocationandSCU(SupplyChainUnit):

WhenalocationiscreatedinSAPSCMeithermanuallyorbytransferviathecoreinterface(CIF),thesystemautomaticallycreatesanSCUwithidenticalgeneralandaddressdataandthebusiness
characterplanninglocation.
Conversely,ifyoucreateanSCUwiththebusinesscharacterplanninglocation,thesystemautomaticallycreatesalocationwithidenticalgeneralandaddressdata.
DependencywithLocation:IfthetheSupplyChainunithasaBusinessAttribute:PlanningLocation,thentheSCUisdependentwithitslocationpair(/N/SAPAPO/LOC3).TheSCUcannotbedeletedifthe
Locationstillexists.Howeverifthelocationmasterisdeleted,thepairedSCUwillbedeletedaswell(regardlessofdeletionflagissetornot).StandaloneSCUscanbedeletedbythedeletionflagisseton
thecorrespondingSCU(viaTransaction/SCMB/SCUMAIN>GeneralTab>DeletionFlag).Aftersettingtheflagthedeletionbackgroundreportcanbescheduledfromthemainscreenof/n/scmb/scumain
transaction.Note1:ExecutingthereportwilldeleteallstandaloneSCUswhicharemarkedfordeletion.
