Live Kitchen was a major highlight where chefs demonstrated new
cooking ingredients, cooking equipments and cuisines, delighting the
visitors with sumptuous offerings through tasting trials.
PRODUCT LAUNCHES
FGFI is the ideal place to launch new brands and products with hoards of
visitors coming to the show. This year too, FGFI served the newest of
brands in the most appetizing fashion. The event provided for the perfect
platform for the mega launch of Pina Supreme Saffron and proved to be a
great impetus in its fastrack entry into the retail scene.
Food & Grocery Forum India 2014 attracted the big guns of the food industry to share insights and vision for the growth
of the industry. The CEOs, policy makers, industry watchers, experts and consultants attended the event and there was
active government participation along with the think tank of the industry, making the conference a landmark industry

Through a series of conferences and educative sessions monitored by industry experts, the progressive
grocers, brand owners, retail stalwarts, industry analysts, food testing and certifying agencies, food service
operators, service providers, back-end supporters, and all other stakeholders identified the latest
consumption trends in domestic markets, lent insights on business planning and growth, and shared
knowledge on global best practices.
CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Masterclass on 'How to maximise sale per customer': Through a hands-on workshop on increasing customers'
engagement, the participants learnt the technique of maximising shoppers' time inside stores by optimising
their purchase basket through a deep understanding of a shoppers' psyche, such as what brings her to the
store, the shopping mission, and the purchase process, and how to use simple techniques to drive shopper
engagement both with the products and the people inside the store.
Winning Strategies in Consumer-led Future: Indian retail industry is poised for an accelerated growth in the
immediate future and focus on Affordability, Health-awareness and Convenience will help the organisations
succeed in the Food Retail industry in India. During the course of this enlightening session, the experts
deliberated and discussed why these will be the game-changers in food retail in India.
Opportunity in Food and Grocery Retail for India's One Billion: Experts in this session discussed ways to tap
the huge potential by eradicating bottlenecks and roadblocks; the learnings in the industry over the last
decade, and how it should move forward. They discussed ideas and innovations that would enable food
captains to offer more to the consumers and grow the overall pie of modern retail and trade, and how the
entire cycle of food production, distribution, retailing and consumption was preparing itself to serve the one
billion Indian consumers.

The FIFI Conclave: In this session, FIFI members in conversation with Modern Trade heads and Traditional Retailers
discussed ways to chart a new way forward to tap the potential in the imported food category, how to overcome hurdles
and challenges, devise synergies and partnerships to develop this category, create consumer awareness of these foods,
run promotional activities so that more and more people develop a taste for this category and ultimately increase
consumption.
Emerging Consumption Categories: With fitness becoming the new consumption mantra and health products
like diet and organic foods replacing the traditional products on the shelves, this highly enlightening session involved an
in-depth analysis of the shifting market trends that define this change and laid down the blueprint for the future.
The WOW! Experience: The session dealt with designing, developing and managing a truly memorable experience
for customers and what they look for when eating out. Industry experts shared customer winning techniques that
create brand loyalty, life-long relationships, and enduring word-of-mouth.
Developing the Indian Food Palate to International Standards: In this session food connoisseurs, master
chefs and restaurateurs shared innovations in trends, and what emerged was an insightful discussion.
The Debate on Private Labels: Learning from the past and the future: The session brought forth insights on the
pros and cons of private labels and how they affect both retailers and brands. Private brands have risen significantly
over the last few years. While many modern retailers have taken to private brands in a big way, the FMCG brands are of
the view that the manufacturers and retailers should stick to their core vocation of manufacturing and retailing
respectively. The debate gave insights into actual sales over the years, margins and profitability, growth expectations in
the next five years, and most of all how customer feedback has been for private brands.
Role of F&B Building: Hallmark of a Hotel: The session, moderated by Chef Saby, Fabrica by Chef Saby, discussed how a
restaurant can enhance the overall brand prestige of the property it is located in, and by itself become a brand of its own.
Panelists also discussed ho focus on food and beverage provides greater opportunities to enhance a property's overall
performance, which ultimately adds value to the asset as well as the real estate. So the food and beverage segment in the
overall hospitality sector is of prime importance in building brand equity, attracting footfalls and driving sales.
