Writers Notebook

Your writers notebook should be a hardcover composition book with at least 100 sheets. Yes, we will be
doing a lot of writing in our writers notebooks so please purchase wisely. (I personally love the blueline
brand hardcover notebooks but the are much more expensive. Please make sure that the composition
book you choose is hardcover and at least 100 sheets.)
Since you will be handing this notebook in on a regular basis you must keep it organized. Please never
tear out a page or use this book to take notes for another class. Each marking period you will receive a
grade for the upkeep of your reading journal so I will be checking.
In addition to the hardcover 100-sheet composition book, you will need Post-it brand durable Tabs 1 in x
1.5 in, in any color or assortment of colors you would like.
On the outside of your journal, please make sure you have your name, ILA period and Writers Notebook
clearly labeled. You may want to take a piece of card stock and glue stick or glue gun the card stock onto
the cover and decorate, that is fine and it makes your notebook original. I will be handing out colored
dots you will use to place on the front cover in order to indicate which day of the week you will hand in
your writers notebooks. (There is just no way I can correct 60 writers notebooks in one day.)
Below is how I would like your notebook organized. You may organize your notebook anytime before
school starts. During the first full week of school, it will be one of your homework assignments so I have
no problem if you get a head start. Make sure to number the pages.
