O.5740 COURSE TITLE: POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN
MANAGEMENT
(Introduced with effect from the Academic Year 2014)

Preamble:
Set in motion by intense competition and globalization, coupled with liberalization, both private
and public firms are forced to commit themselves to not only making the right material of right
condition available to their customers, but also doing so at the right time, place and economic cost
be it a product or service.
With the evolving business environment creating a strong demand pull for quality and efficient
logistics services, core steps to enable a stronger infrastructure such as development of skill sets
are necessary.
The required pace of efficiency and quality improvement will force logistics service providers to
develop their capabilities faster than ever before in order to retain a competitive edge, especially in
this market where skills are the key factors to distinguish one selves. Logistics is an important
tool to achieve competency to link enterprise to customers and suppliers.

Objective:
To equip the students with various methods, practices and techniques of supply chain processes both in the
manufacturing and service sector; and attain necessary skills.

Coverage:
The course provides an in depth study of SCM processes in both the manufacturing as well as the service
sector. It also focuses on the latest trends in logistics and SCM chain and provides a complete knowledge
on the domestic as well as the international front.

Career Scope:
The employment opportunities are: in national and international logistics manufacturing, marketing and
retail chains, in various functions: Warehousing, Supply Chain, integrated transportation, consultancy etc.
Logistics business as transportation is in existence for long and has excellent opportunities with integration
of outsourced functions added to it

Architecture of the Course:

1. The minimum percentage required for passing will be 50% in each component (internals and externals)
in each paper.
2. Evaluation : 60% periodic evaluation (class assessments) , 40% semester end examination.

4. Semester-end Examination will be conducted at the end of Semesters. A student who fails in
some subjects can join the next semester. A supplementary examination will be conducted in
September for all subjects of Semester II & IV and March for all subjects of Semester I & III for
students to clear subjects in which he/she has failed. Old batch students must ensure that they collect the
hall tickets before January 31st to appear for exams in March and May and July 31 st to appear for exams
in September and December.
5. Term & Periodic Assessment Marks can be carried forward.

6. All semester end examinations will be of 2 hours duration.
