SUMMARY
My name is Caroline Jones, a sophomore at the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte. I am currently studying Sport and Exercise
Science in the pursuit of admission to a Doctorate of Physical
Therapy Program. I am also a member of the University Honors
Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as a
Deans List student for the following semester.

As a therapy observer at WLCH, I am to observe the techniques of the


physical therapist I am assigned as well as assist them. Through this
experience I have learned to manage equipment such as walkers, canes,
therapy tools, IV poles, leads, ice packs, hospital beds, wheelchairs, etc.
In addition, I have learned to communicate about patient treatment with
nursing staff, communicate with patients about therapy, help
demonstrate exercises for the patients treatment, as well as
communicate with other physical therapists.

As a therapy observer at Deep River Rehabilitation, I observed the


techniques of the supervising outpatient Physical Therapist, Michael
Wright. Through this experience, I learned different manipulation
techniques, manual therapy techniques, creating patient treatment plans,
coding injuries/weakness, as well as patient interactions in the outpatient
setting.

During this summer employment my job was to maintain the safety of the
club members at the pool by communicating/enforcing the designated
safety precautions, attend staff meetings, survey the pool for members in
distress, rescue patrons, perform CPR or medical care if needed, test
water/record results, set up pool for opening/closing, work the snack
shack during breaks, clean pool/chairs/tables/facilities, report to
supervisor at the beginning/end of a shift, and perform any assigned duty.

State qualifier (2014); This club in high school was a business
preparation organization that emphasized professionalism and
educated the participants at these conferences as well as

Local Fourth of the July Parade Volunteer
The local parade in Eden, NC is a hometown event, in which takes a
minimum of a week of preparation for. I have worked in set up with
this parade every year since I was a freshman in high school. (20102014)
Student Ambassador
A position held by a select students at Morehead High School thats
duties included being a guide for new students for their first week.
Whenever a new student was enrolled, an ambassador was called to
the office and assigned the new student.
Good Turn for Goodwill Clothing Drive Volunteer
(2010-2014)
Challenger Baseball
This organization was founded by my church as an athletic outlet for
special needs children to learn the game of baseball. I volunteered
at baseball games in the organization and game management every
Sunday in the spring seasons of 2013-2014.
Facebook Class for the Elderly
In both 2013 and 2014 I volunteered at the local Eden Senior Center
and organized a Facebook class for a group of elderly citizens, the
class was a weeklong both times and was a major success with
those who participated.
Backpack Pals
Coordinator for Central Elementary School; The program Backpack
Pals is a program for under privileged students at local elementary
schools that help families with children on free and reduced lunch.
As the coordinator for Central Elementary, I would collect donations,
grocery shop, pack backpacks, and distribute/collect the backpacks
weekly to our sponsored children. I held this position from 20102012, and in response received my Girl Scout Silver Award to
accompany my Bronze Award I received in 2010.
Church Session
Elder (2010-2012)
Camp Carefree
Camp Carefree is a summer camp for special needs children, where I
worked as a counselor for three years. In addition to working during
the summer, I served as a counselor during the camps Alumni
Weekend where campers who have aged out of the camps age
range can return for a weekend of fun. I served as a counselor

during the summer in 2010-2014.


Alzheimers Awareness Class
In 2014-2015, I organized an Alzheimers Awareness class that was
taught at a local senior center, the Mayodan Senior Center. The class
composed of the ins and outs of the disease as well as preventative
measures that could be taken. I am in the process of receiving my
Girl Scout Gold Award for this class.
Humane Society of Charlotte
Through the University Honors College, I have volunteered at the
Humane Society of Charlotte in Fall of 2015. During this experience,
we helped find homes for animals, cleaning kennels, fed/watered
animals, as well as helped with household chores around the
headquarters.
