The Tory Trade Union Bill

is the biggest attack on our
right to strike and organise for
generations.
We have to go all out to
mobilise opposition to this
attack. It passed its final reading
in parliament on 10 November.
On 2 November, thousands of
trade unionists joined a TUC
protest lobby, on a national day
of action with local protests
around the country.
These were important steps
in organising opposition to the
bill. But with a Tory majority in
power, and the bill now through
its final reading, we need to up
the ante and have a strategy to
defeat the bill.

We need to mobilise
across the unions and the
movement now to prepare
to defy the law if it is
implemented.
The flashpoints will come
when an employer attempts to
implement the bill. We must
be prepared to stand together
and defend any union or
group of workers who find
themselves outside the law.
Our union movement
has defeated anti-union laws
before, through utilising the
power of mass strikes.
We call on TUC and
union leaders to build towards
coordinated strikes to defend
our unions.
