The Slate house located at Panipat, Haryana on a plot of 33 by 62 was envisioned by the
architects as a creation of space amalgamated with strong yet subtle aura which was
perceived as the challenge of the project to blend the two in perfect sense.
This amalgamation was purely the deriviation of the character of the client, who is a teacher
by profession with strong in opinions yet subtle of expressions.
Every space designed has a sharp defined edges and a pinch of organic elements bringing
the perfect contrast to it.
As one approaches the main door, the 25 high majestic faade doesnt give away of what
it holds within, standing rear to the carefully meticulated soft greens giving vibrance
contrasted by edgy bold stone pavers defining the walking space.
Moving further beholds a conceptually thick boundary wall in which some geometrical
punctures are given; as a metaphor to connect space also to delineate between internal
and external border by the use of permeability.
A thoughtfully articulated simplistic faade does not overdo it yet speaks a lot with the
Expression of contrasting colors and volumes cleverly disguising what lies inside.
The Slate black stone dominates the faade giving a bold edge to it which is contrasted
by the subtle hue of maroon, balanced together by a hue of pale cream resonating the
strong yet subtle character of the client.
To avoid dull monotony, the volumes are created by vertical elements over the
left and a cubical punctures given as an interplay of volumes; also acting as shading
device to fenestrations.
On to the right what holds attention are the concealing MS jaali panels a blend of
Traditional with modern using organic motif patterns with geometrical patterns;
this jaali stands proud framing views of garden.
The residence is a duplex with 2 floors where each space is connected to other

blending with the dark hued furniture defining the space in its own sense.

A tailor made modular U-shaped kitchen with well-planned services; transitions

itself with entirely different aura yet connecting with the rest of the spaces through the jaali

Black and white are 2 such colors that make bold visual statements and create interiors

The seats of the dark wooden finished chairs are kept in same dull gold shade of the
Jaalis around the space; giving a sense of connectivity.
Materials & colors have been repeatedly resonated, played with at different spaces giving
Rhythm and harmony to spaces.
The success of this space is achieved by the interplay of light and shadow, over
the black stone-cladded cantilevered stairs; through the jaali which converts these
stairs to more than just a circulation space adding drama also giving a sense of openness.
The slate stone has again been used alongside the stairs to highlight the shadow play
over the stairs and to bring the oomph factor; finally following the motto of our firm
WE BREATHE.
This place acts as one of the best focal points.

Sharp grooves; laid across the black flooring.
To compliment it the same groove pattern finish has been done over the almirahs and side
tables.

a great contrast to the sharp edged regular geometric definitions within the room.
Another bedroom consists minimal approach to interiors keeping it subtle, with interplay
Of hues of light grey, yellow and dark blue over the furniture to keep it subtle yet lively.
Upper floor consists of classrooms along with other spaces to cater the needs of the client.
All in all the house is a complete package of cleverly incorporated spaces;
playing with materials and geometry to provide a dynamic yet humane environment
for the client and his family.
