Instructions to the teacher candidate: Please reflect on your professional performance, and

1.

In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, what are your professional strengths?
How have you built on these strengths so far, and how do you plan to do so in the future?

As it pertains to the ADPET standards, I feel that my strengths lie in ADEPT standard
six and eight. In regards to standard six I believe that I effectively provide sound content
to my students. I make sure I understand what the support document states that is
essential for students to know. I realized that I have to follow that document cohesively
in order to not go off on a tangent as I know I can. What I would do during planning is
basically reteach myself to make sure I understand what it is I am teaching, and
therefore can compose the best way to teach it. I also feel that I maintain a classroom
environment that encourages students learning as is applies to ADEPT standard eight.
For example, I often refer to the charts and diagrams, some that I have made,
throughout instructions. I also find a way to include some sort of sound or movement
that the class can do that connects with new content. I feel that this is a strong strategy
because when children are able to have more than one sensory applied to a topic they
are more likely to own and remember that subject.

2.

In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, what are your professional challenges?
How do you plan to meet these challenges?

3.

Describe your students overall progress and achievement. What insights have you
gained into ways to improve student progress and achievement?
My students overall achievement has improved as a class. I reached this conclusion
because they have recently taken their quarter 2 STAR test and as a class they improved
+0.3, which means that they have progressed three months on reading comprehension.
They have also increased in ZPD, resulting in higher reading levels for Accelerated Reader.
The insight that I have gained from this data is the repetition is a solid means of increasing
reading comprehension. We ask that the students read an AR book at least three times,
more for others that struggle in reading. We always make the students following along
with their fingers when we are reading aloud. I definitely noticed that this strategy

4.

How will you use the knowledge you have gained through this professional selfassessment to promote your continuous professional growth and collaboration?

I will use the knowledge that I have gained through this professional-self
assessment to promote my growth by enriching he standards that I feel are my
weaker standards. Also, I will continue to reflect on my teaching in all aspects to
ensure that my content and strategies are effective and up-to-date.
