Letter of Appreciation
Greetings to Cleveland Central Catholic High Schools stakeholders
and supporters! This publication serves as an annual financial report
and a brief recap of the advancement of our mission during the
2014-15 academic and fiscal year, ending June 30, 2015. The 2014-15
academic year at Central Catholic was a very successful one, by any
of our standard benchmarks.
Enrollment rose by 5.4% to 625, CCCs highest level since 1989.
All four class levels were full and had waiting lists. The Class of 2015
graduated 129 seniors the largest graduating class since 1994.
For the second consecutive year, all our seniors graduated. Of those,
over 89% were admitted into college, continuing a trend that has
increased by over 23% in the past dozen years. This class also
garnered over $2.7 million in college scholarships, establishing a
new school record. Congratulations to them and to all who helped
them achieve so much!
Besides these successful outcomes, this past year also marked a
number of other steps forward in making the Central Catholic
Experience an outstanding one for our students. Due to our increasing
enrollment, additional faculty and staff were hired including
those who work with our students with special learning needs
(approximately 17% of our students). CCCs athletic program
continues to progress too, with dramatic improvement in the
competitiveness of our girls volleyball and boys baseball teams,
for example. Our boys basketball team lost a heartbreaking decision
in the state championship game but displayed outstanding
sportsmanship and integrity.
It was a very busy and productive year for our schools Advisory
Board, as well. The various board committees continue to address
key issues and help provide solutions to the many challenges facing
our school and our families. Two of these were especially noteworthy
in 2014-15. The Advancement Committee helped lead CCC to a
record-setting year for total private donations with $1,283,267 tallied.
Both of CCCs annual fundraising events, CleanUp+Clams and
Calcutta, set new records for gross revenue and net profits bravo!
The Facilities Committee has been studying how CCC and its
partners could benefit from the creation of a Campus Master Plan.
The committee laid this groundwork in 2014-15, and will continue
to make this a priority during the current fiscal year. By working with
our key stakeholders, CCC aims to create a healthy environment for
our students by defining and securing our campus, addressing the
needs of an aging physical plant, and pursuing creative solutions to
ongoing challenges relating to space, access, and parking needs. This
is an exciting time as we envision a bright future for Central Catholic!
As always, we remain grateful to the hundreds of people who
partner with us to ensure the financial viability of our school. With
nearly 85% of our families living at or below the federal poverty levels,
it is imperative that we continue to secure this critical funding.
Thanks to the hard work of our wonderful board members, CCC has
been able to increase the amount of corporate support over the past
few years, while also adding new foundation partners and donors.
The simple reality is that Cleveland Central Catholic needs this support
to survive. But that is not enough for our mission. This school must
thrive! We are providing a high-quality Catholic education to all who
seek it combining the blessings of faith formation with academic
rigor. This is a tried-and-true formula that produces results, but we
need your continued support to get to that next level.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to you for your investments
of financial support, volunteer hours, prayers and good works.
We also acknowledge the dedicated service of our Advisory Board
members, our corporate and foundation partners and the Diocese of
Cleveland for their leadership and outstanding support of our mission.
We look forward to seeing you on campus to witness the great good
that you have made possible for our very deserving students.
Please consider encouraging family members, friends and associates
to visit Cleveland Central Catholic High School. This is a very special
school that serves as a beacon of hope in our community.
Thank you and may God bless your generosity!
Gratefully,
John A. Peca 70
