JESUS HEALS
COME MEET HIM

A message from Fr. Ian
DEAR ONES,
am always excited by Christmas but this one is special. It is special because there seems more anxiety
around than I can ever remember. Even as I write
this there have been multiple killings in San Bernadino. The attacks in Paris are so close to home that we
also feel assaulted. I am sure that the world and place
where Jesus was born about 2000 plus years ago were
even more so. A brutal Roman occupying power governed Israel. Jesus family was clearly poverty-stricken. The People of God were divided into polarized political and religious camps. Is some of this familiar?
Into this historical period and place Jesus was
born. Somehow his birth is not just the mystery
of The Incarnation, but Jesus will stand everyones worldview on its head. He
preached and taught, lived and acted
according to a completely different
set of principles - those of the Kingdom of God.
And Jesus called them to him and
said to them, You know that those
who are considered rulers of the
Gentiles lord it over them, and
their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall
not be so among you. But whoever would be great
among you must be your servant, and whoever would
be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son
of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give
his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:42-45
Our new Presiding Bishop drew attention to this
in his installation sermon. He quoted an accusation
from Acts 17:6 These men who have turned the world

Vestry Elections
If you are looking for some fun and excitement
in your life, please consider running for a Vestry
position at St. Lukes . There are three positions that
need to be filled beginning in January 2016. There
are two, 3 year Vestry seats, and one 2 year Warden
position. If you wish to nominate someone, please
make sure that they satisfy the position qualifications, and that you have their written permission. In
December, the nominating forms, and The Box will
be on the table in the back of the church.

COOKBOOK
PLEASE NOTE:
Missing Tray
Leta Tully sent baked goods for the bazaar (thank
you, Leta) to the parish kitchen, on her Mothers
tray. At some point it was taken to the baked sale
room and in the course of the day, the tray has gone
missing. As it was her Mothers it is a heart-felt loss!
It is metal, and almost square. If anyone accidently
took it home, please return it to the parish kitchen.
Or, if someone might have put it away in the kitchen, please let Diana (677-8833) know where.
Thank you so much for your help in getting the
tray back to Leta.
