If you use your STRATO HiDrive online hard disk as a work environment for your files, it is a good idea to make backups here as
well in order to maintain versions of your work or to repair incorrect deletions. With BackupControl a simple tool is available to you
for this purpose.
You can create backups of your STRATO HiDrive package in your HiDrive Custome r Se rvice Are a . Here you have the choice of
creating regular backups or manual backups of your storage space.
In this article we describe how you can use BackupControl and easily restore previous data repositories.

For the first step log into the Custome r Se rvice Are a of your HiDrive package. In the overview display you will see the current
memory allocation, the area used by backup versions will be listed separately. To create and manage backup versions select the

If your account is an administrator account and your HiDrive package allows multiple users, you can select the folder for which you
would like to use BackupControl via a drop-down menu. Two possibilities are available to you for creating backup states.

If automatic backups will not be executed, you can create manual backups. To do this click the field Cre a te Ba ckup Ve rsion
Now. Assign a name for the manual backup and confirm your selection by clicking Cre a te .

The storage space required for a backup is determined b y the cha nge re la tive to the p re vious b a ckup ve rsion. If no
change has occurred to the status of your data in the folder then the size of the backup version will be 0 bytes. Relatively static
content such as photos or videos will not result in a large volume in the backup versions. Dynamic content however will be changed
for each new version and requires storage space for the current version.

In the left work area in the Sna p shots area you will see the created version states of the folder that you have selected. Highlight the
desired version state; the content of the backup version is displayed in the right work area.

Highlight the file(s) and drag & drop them into the desired folder.
