Congratulates The Governor - Rochas Okorocha On His 100 Days In Office
And Points Out Areas For Priority Attention

n the August, 2 0 1 1MAIDENEDITION of NEWSGRAIN

MAGAZINE, I did congratulate the
publishers and reminded the editors of
the ethics of journalism. I did advise the
newly people-elected Governor of Imo
State of Nigeria on where to give
immediate attention, in order to
gradually soothe the wounds and pains
of the electorate, who had suffered
terrible soothe the wounds and pains of
the electorate, who had suffered terrible
humiliation and tribulations under the
recent-past regimes in Imo State.
In line with this, I hereby congratulate
the Governor of Imo State of Nigeria
Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his
Government on their first 100 (one
hundred) active days in office.
My article in the Maiden Edition of
NewsGrain touched on a spectrum of
works for the attention of the Governor,
but I doubt he ever saw and read it.
In spite of this, the Governor, Owelle
Rochas Okorocha, has indeed embarked
on many of the issues raised in my
maiden-article. It is for me personally a
thing of joy to observe that some great
States-projects begun in our regime in
the 2nd-Republic of Nigeria but
uncompleted due to the military
intervention of December 31,19 8 3, have
been reactivated by this Governor.
The Governor's lodge, the lodges of the
Deputy- Governor and the Chief-judge,
judges' quarters and other key-officers'
residences, House-of - Assembly
Members' quarters at New-Owerri being
converted now to Concorde Hotel Annex,
some major-and ring-roads in the
Owerri-Capital Territory and others, the
Oguta-Lake Hotel and around-the lakeholiday-attraction projects, all of which
are now undergoing either completion,
reconstruction or renovation by this
Owelle Rochas Okorocha's Government.
This is a testimony of service, and I

would advise the Governor to

continue and not relent, as we wish
him more grease to his elbow.
I was Commissioner for Works and
Transport, in the old Imo State
(present Imo +Abia States+ a larger
part of Ebonyi State) that terminated
due to military intervention on
December 31,19 8 3, and my Ministry
was in-charge of those projects,
hence my special passion to the
reactivation of such people-oriented
projects, which indeed is not out-ofplace.
So, I thank Mr. Governor, Owelle
Rochas Okorocha, for this big stride
into service to our people.
I have always maintained that
Governance is at its best, when
determined by a concerted effort of
all the stake-holders of a nation,
state, Local Govt, or a community,
such as the Government that takes
the lead, the traditional ruling
agency, the Police, the Military and
other Para-military agencies, the
church and education-agencies,
professional and cultural bodies and
the people. As we say in
Engineering, the strength of a chain
is determined by its weakest link, and
so it is in Governance.
In other words, all the stake-holders
must sit up and severally deliver good
performance, to ensure good
governance in the society.
In this vein, I want to observe that
each time there is a little rain-drop,
the road-traffic in Owerri Capital City
gets chaotic, and there is hardly any
movement of vehicles, because police
traffic-officers at important junctions
have vamoosed and are no longer at
their duty-posts. This ill must be
corrected without delay.

We therefore crave the indulgence

of the Governor to also look into
this area, as well as in the area of
incessant electric- power failure and
lack of potable water-supply in the
capital-city. The Governor may also
look into the road-networks in
Aladinma, Ikenegbu L/O, Prefab,
Federal Housing and World-Bank
Housing Estates, and the roads
between Royce Road and Nworie
River in Old Owerri-Township.
Having said that, it is expedient to
check the traffic misbehaviour of
the Keke Napep riders in the city.
Littering of papers and plastic
wastes all over the city should not
be compromised at all, and the
daring Okada (Inaga) law-breakers
should be nabbed by the LawEnforcement Agencies without
leniency.
Yes, our people are a difficult race to
govern! Bear with them, our
people's Governor, but beware of
the so-called close-relations who
perch around, claiming to be your
one agent or another, or they may
run you down without your
knowledge.
Mr. Governor, Sir, thank you for
your 100-active days in-office. We
pray that our Lord God may grant
you the where-withal, to continue to
appropriately address the needs of
our people and make Imo State an
enviable State in the whole
Federation.
In all of these, may the Fear of
God be and remain your
permanent focus.

editors, kudos!
