EYE IS AN EXTENSION OF THE BRAIN & WINDOW TO OUR SOUL

The eyes are seen as the window to the soul because they can give clues as to
what another person is thinking. We all know that when people just smile with
their mouths, the smile is probably false. When the smile includes the eyes, then
it is probably genuine. Similarly, boredom can sometimes be detected by a blank
stare. Much can be learnt from whether a person is willing to look us in the eye,
or averts the gaze. We can also unconsciously judge whether a person is being
honest by how often he or she blinks.
The eye is the window to the universe, and some would say they are also
windows to the soul.. We have heard this phrase get passed around before: The
eyes are the windows of the soul. People usually say this when they can see
pain, anger, or some other emotion in somebody elses eyes. But recent
research gives a whole new meaning to this phrase. Eyes not only windows to
emotions, they are windows to the soul.
How? The answer has to do with the actual eyeball itself. Everyone has a
different structure of lines, dots and colours within the iris of their eye. Some
people may have similar eye colour to each other, but the lines and dots on the
iris are as unique as a fingerprint.
Although they vary from person to person, there are certain patterns contained
within the iris which are widespread, and scientists at Orebro University in
Sweden wanted to see if these patterns correlated with specific personality traits.
They focused on patterns in crypts (threads which radiate from the pupil) and
contraction furrows (lines curving around the outer edge) which are formed when
the pupils dilate. The studied the eyes of 428 subjects to see if the crypts
patters and contraction furrows reflected their character traits.
Jesus spoke about this when He taught on how our eyes reflect either spiritual
light or great spiritual darkness within our souls. The light of the body is the
eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of
light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If
therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that
darkness.

Jesus makes certain that there is no misunderstanding that either we are full of light or we are in great
darkness. Just as we cannot love two masters, so that there cannot be any neutrality in the state of our
souls.
How and what makes the difference between an eye full of light and an eye full of darkness? To know
this you have to understand light and know where darkness comes from.
Spiritual darkness:

Spiritual darkness came upon all mankind without exception in the Garden of Eden when Adam and
Eve rebelled against God. Adam and Eves pride drove them to eat of the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither where
thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:21
Through Adam and Eves sin and pride, mankind was thrust into great spiritual darkness and sadly,
this darkness exists today.
From where comes the light?
Jesus said in John 9 verse 5, As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When
Jesus went back to heaven He promised He would send another light: God, the Holy Spirit, also
known as the Comforter. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the
Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. John
15:26
The Holy Spirit comes to dwell within each person to whom the Father sends Him. His presence
within us is the proof we have become one of Gods people. If we are one of the blessed recipients of
Gods gift of salvation, the Spirit will remain in us forever.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with
you for ever. John 14:16
The Spirit is the light that rekindles the light that was darkened by our sin and the sin of Adam.
Through the Spirits presence and power each and every person in whom the Spirit dwells become the
light of the world:
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill that cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14
This is now our purpose and task, if the Spirit of God dwells within us:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father
which is in heaven.

A flickering glance left or right, up or down can indicate in what processes are going on in
the mind.
In the study, carried out by the University of Melbourne, volunteers were asked to think of a
series of numbers between one and 30 and call them out at random.

The scientists mapped out their eye movements and said they were able to predict what
number each person would utter with reliable confidence.
The findings suggest that the art of "mind reading" could be founded upon the study of
unconscious facial expressions. They could also offer a useful insight for negotiators trying to
second guess their counterparts.
Dr Michael Nicholls, a neuroscientist and co-author of the study, said: Clearly, the eyes not
only allow us to see the world around us but they also present a window to the working of our
mind.
The findings, published in the journal Current Biology, were based on the testing of 12 righthanded men who were placed in a darkened room.
Each individual were asked to list every number between one and 40 in as random a fashion
as possible.
Each eye was mapped in detail and each tiny movement recorded and measured.
If the eye moved a fraction to the left and slightly down, the next number they picked was
likely to be smaller, whereas if it moved to the right and up, the number would be higher.
The scientists were able to make their predictions correctly 60 per cent of the time , according
to the research.
Dr Tobias Loetscher, fellow author of the study, said people imagined numbers in a sequential
line.
When we think of numbers we automatically code them in space, with smaller number
falling to the left, and larger numbers to the right, he said.
That is, we think of them along a left-to-right oriented mental number line - often without
even noticing this number-space association ourselves.
The report concluded: Apart from supporting the old wisdom that it is often the eyes that
betray the mind, the findings highlight the intricate links between supposedly abstract thought
processes, the body's actions and the world around us.
Our study is also noteworthy because it demonstrates that simply thinking of random
numbers is accompanied by systematic changes in eye position.
Lateral eye movements have previously been linked to mental arithmetic and recalling past
memories.
Professor Richard Wiseman, psychiatrist at the University of Hertfordshire, said the brain
ultimately controlled both movement and thought.
The question is what comes first, the movement or the thought. This would suggest it is the
movement than precedes the thought. It is an interesting issue.

Prof Wiseman said the study was reminiscent of work done by American psychiatrist
Edmund Jacobson in the 1950s where participants were asked to think of the Eiffel Tower
and their eyes rose up.
The brain is hearing a request before it tells you that you have heard that request and so that
is why there is an action.
