SPORTS

Please give the details of all the events organized and participated during the last
year. The college teams can also be mentioned under the same heads:
The Sports Committee of IMT Dubai has been vigorously involved in organising and
facilitating various sports events in IMT Dubai.
1. CRICKET: - 4 Seasons of Dubai Premire League(Intra College Cricket
Tournament)
An initiative named Dubai Premiere League was pushed by the committee along
with the guided aid of other students which led to active participation and astounding
display of cricket. DPL is the tournament organized after every 2 months or say after
every semester among the students of different batches of IMT Dubai. DPL is
conceptualised similar to IPL wherein teams are formed by auctioning players.
Participation of more than seventy players in the tournament says much about the
scale of tournament. A special mention some cricket enthusiasts coordinating with
sports committee to successfully organize this league and make it a grand success. .
The praise received by the league was rapturous
- Winners of S.P.Jain Premire League
This was an Inter-college Cricket league wherein IMT DCP team participated and
competed against BITS Pilani Dubai campus, IIM Indore, S.P jain.
- 2nd Runners Up INSPORTZ Cricket Tournament
- Participated in Skyline Cricket Tournament
Biggest intercollege Cricket tournament of UAE. 16 top universities participated from
Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
2. FOOTBALL
IFL ( IMT Football League) was conceptualized by some students of DCP. The sports
committee engaged with the students and helped in organizing the leagues. The first
season witnessed the participation of Amity students which led to exposure to some

highly talented African players. It turned out to be a massive crowd pleaser with
extensive participation and support.
DCP, true to its name made even this football tournament an international
experience. Two successful seasons of the league were organised. From the player
auctions, the games to the hilarious commentary, the tournament was enjoyed by
each and everyone of the students

3. VOLLEYBALL
IVL( IMT Volleyball League) was organized for Volleyball enthusiasts in the campus
and the turnout and response for the event was quite amazing. Twice it was
organized.

4. TABLE TENNIS
An Intra IMT table tennis tournament was conducted by Sports comm. The event
saw the excited participation of 50 students. Singles and Doubles were conducted
separately for both Men and Women. The tournament helped us identify the best
talents of IMT. Before the Skyline tournament, a selection was announced in which
the best players of IMT were pitted against each other. In order to ensure a fair trial,
every player played against every other player in a league style points based
selection. The transparent selection process led to the identification of the best
players amongst the lot. These players represented IMT in the Skyline tournament
and the whole college proud by winning the second prize.

5. BADMINTON
We didnt have any facility for badminton in campus. We tied up with BITS Pilani

Dubai campus to play friendly series/matches on a regular basis. In Sports week

also an Intra college competition was organized.

6. BASKETBALL: - Our girls and boys teams participated in Skyline Tournament. In

sports week also DCP boys and girls team played against the teams of other
courses.
Sports Week was organized in September 2013. Games that were included were
Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Table Tennis, Badminton, Throw ball, Tug of War.
The Committee engages in uplifting sportsmanship, which is a vital part of life. It
promotes students to participate so that they may receive victory with modesty and
defeat with honesty. The Committee aims to provide students a wholesome and
exemplary B-School Experience.
We gave farewell to Sachin Tendulkar as well by making a human formation of
SRT10. Some 150 students braved the afternoon sun and stood for over an hour to
perfect the formation. The result was the perfect formation of SRT 10 in tricolours
you see above. We posted this photograph on Sachin Tendulkars most viewed fan
page in the world Sachinist.com where it received over nine thousand likes and 450+
shares.
