2. Overall aims:
By successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

Explain the physiological and medical basics concerning cardiopulmonary diseases and
disorders.
Introduce the most recent techniques used in cardiopulmonary evaluation.
Develop thorough knowledge data base of professional and intellectual skills concerning the
management of patient with cardiopulmonary diseases.
Identify different cardiothoracic surgeries related to chest and heart diseases.

3. Intended Learning Outcomes of the Course (ILOs)


a- Knowledge and Understanding:

By successful completion of the course the student should be able to:


A1:-Define the scientific meaning of the biological principles related to normal human
health status and causes of chest and heart diseases, which underpin physical therapy.
A2 : List the physical bases related to normal human health status and causes of chest and
heart diseases, which underpin physical therapy.
A3: Recognize normal biological and physiological changes which developed as a normal
consequence of aging process concerning the cardiopulmonary system.
A4: Identify the patho-physiological changes that result from different diseases that affect
the cardiopulmonary system.
A5: Recite the pathological changes for cardiopulmonary diseases with pharmacological
interaction with therapy and related clinical features of cardiopulmonary conditions
commonly encountered by Physical Therapy with their relevant medical and surgical
treatment .

A6: Describe different cardiothoracic surgeries and its risks for chest and cardiac diseases.
b- Intellectual Skills:

By successful completion of the course the student should be able to:


B1:- Synthesize information from a number of sources such as lectures handout, medical
books, and discussion in lectures or seminars in order to gain a coherent understanding
of a clinical case.
B2:- Demonstrate the ability to extract pertinent information and put ideas of plan of
treatment for a given patient suffering from many problems through reviewing the
provided medical documents.
B3:- Extract data using information technology (internet searching), library (books- master and
doctoral thesis- periodicals) and appropriate techniques.

By successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
