TO THE DDB COLOMBIA GROUP Group CCO Leo Macias comes from DM9DDB Brazil and will also join the Creative Council of DDB Americas. December 14, 2015 | Miami, FL DDB Colombia Group welcomes new CCO Leo Macias, who has won 17 Cannes Lions and multiple awards in renowned creative festivals such as the London Festival, FIAP, New York Festival, El Ojo de Iberoamrica and El Sol, among others, during his 22-year career. He has also been a juror at Cannes and Jury President at FIAP, CCSP, El Ojo de Iberoamrica and Wave Festival, to name a few recognitions he has received from his colleagues. He started his career in 1992 in his native Colombia, where he managed accounts such as Dove Latinoamrica. In 1996, he moved to So Paulo, where for nearly 20 years he worked for brands including Banco Ita, Santander, Citibank, J&J, Avianca, Bavaria, Heineken, BRF Food Services, Nestl, P.B. Kids, Hyundai, Subaru and Chevrolet, among others. In 2010 Leo was named Creative Professional of the Year at the prestigious Brazilian Cabor Awards. More recently, in 2013 he was invited to the Claude Debussy auditorium in Cannes to give a lecture on Brazilian creativity, "Decoding Brazil in 120 Minutes." Macias has wide experience in digitaland has won Lions in the Cyber and Mobile categoriesat Cannes. He also was the only Latin American speaker invited to the Digital Marketing Conference in Mosc last year. Returning to my native country after nearly 20 years brings me great joy. And to be invited by someone I admire as much as Juan Carlos Ortiz to return as Chief Creative Officer in a global agency like DDB, fills me with pride, Leo stated. During his time in Brazil, in addition to achieving a great creative reputation, Macias feels his greatest achievement was winning the confidence of big clients with whom he created successful and well-known campaigns, not only in Brazil, but worldwide.
