GREEN AVIATION IS BETTER TO BE USED COMPARED TO NORMAL FLIGHT

Other

than

that,

green

aviation

use

different

type

of

fuel

consumption which is bio-fuel instead of crude oil. Currently, the majority

of fuel used by aircraft since the beginning of powered flight has been
derived from petroleum with very limited amounts and produced from coal
and natural gas (Alternative Fuels in Aviation, 2014). Jet fuel refined from
kerosene oil is the most widely used by commercial aviation and is also
known by its technical designation for civilian jet uses. Crude oil will no
longer be able to supply demand, as the worldwide energy consumption is
convincingly emerging in accordance to developing world economy in the
predictable future. More research has been conducted about using
alternative fuel even if it is not for green aviation used as the time to
search for alternatives to kerosene from crude oil has formerly come.
Green aviation biofuels offer a certain opportunity to reduce the total
carbon dioxide effect at the point of use (Solutions for the Future, 2012).
Presently, a wide range of possible fuel candidates and fuel blends
are discussed by the researchers. Alternative fuel candidates such as
hydrogen and algae are also included in the list. The advantage of being
unlimited resource makes hydrogen suitable as future fuel for aviation.
However, hydrogen which is stored in liquid state should not be exposed
to human as it will cause serious damage to skin. A method called

electrolysis is used to obtain pure hydrogen, water is split up into

hydrogen and oxygen by means of electricity in this process. The
production of hydrogen shows very low emissions using this method if the
electricity is developed from renewable energy (What Does Hydrogen Hold
in prospect?, 2010). Apart from that, algae have attract researchers as
one of the source for renewable aviation fuels, it is also acknowledged as
bio-jet fuel. A website has been established and a lot of information about
algae including algae-based fuels. According to the research which has
been published by the website, this bio-jet fuel is processed and refined
from the sustainable sources such as waste biomass and animal fats, and
it can perfectly works with jet engine without being modified. Renewable
aviation fuels are molecularly same with traditional jet fuel even though
they are not made from petroleum. Moreover, bio-jet fuels which are made
from algae have been authorized by the worlds standard body for use in
civilian flights. Bio-jet fuels have been tested several times by the military
using their helicopter and aircraft and it is proven that bio-fuel from algae
can fly an aircraft as well as traditional crude oil from petroleum (All About
Algae, 2012).
In short, using these alternative fuels will give positive effect on
environment. As an example, the use of hydrogen will make the engine
produce less emission, thus reduce pollution (What Does Hydrogen Hold in
prospect?, 2010). Then, using algae-based fuel for aviation will slow down
the depletion of earths natural resources. So instead of using crude oil,

using other alternative fuels can give a better environment to human and
benefit to our beloved earth.
Last but not least, the usage of green materials in green aviation
manufacturing technology will promote safer flights. In order to provide a
good memory for passengers, the aircraft must meet users satisfaction
and expectation. In green aviation manufacturing technology, the use of
green materials will produce safer flights. For the fabrication of
environmentally friendly aircraft, material to be used is based on natural
fibres and alternative matrices in replacement of hazardous materials
such as glass fibres (Making Aviation Green, 2013). This natural fibre is
also a renewable resource unlike the currently used materials which are
non-renewable resources. Most importantly, using natural fibres will
reduce the weight of aircraft which lead to less fuel consumption and
carbon dioxide emissions. The aircraft will produce less concussion during
flying as the drag produced by the aircraft is reduce due to reduction of
weight, thus increase aircrafts stability and make passengers feel more
safe.
In addition to this, cabin design that considering users satisfaction
instead of focusing on functional criteria only will be developed. Airbus for
example, has come with a solution and already developed an additive
layer manufacturing technologies to the cabin components which its
design can be modified to customers feedback (Future Aircrafts Cabin and
Design Thinking, 2013). The innovation of this technology comes with
lightweight and integrative design that will not affect the weight of the

aircraft. Therefore, this type of future aircraft will be a very user-friendly,

environmentally friendly and also a safe flight. Green aviation will benefit
not only the environment but also the civilian that fly in it.
To sum up, it is much applauded to apply the green aviation concept
for the benefits of future environment and public as it invites more good
though it might has some disadvantageous. Information about the green
aviation for future aircraft should also be exposed so that people are
aware of its advantageous and benefits. Everyone should know the
importance of implementing the application of green aviation. The
modification of aircraft design and materials will definitely reduce noise
produced by the aircraft that always irritate citizen and reduce the
aircrafts weight will somehow make a safer flight. Next, the replacement
of fuel consumption leads to emission reduction while preventing the
depletion of earths natural resources. In brief, green aviation produces
less pollution of all types and in the same time will save earth and human
being. In order to meet the demand of friendly environment, changing
current aircraft to promote green aviation would not cause any harm.
Indeed, green aviation is better to be used compared to normal flight as
green aviation can give a better environment in the future.
