Rationale

Ghetto is described as a portion of a city in which members of a minority group live; especially

because of social, legal, or economic pressure. Based on the definition Ghetto2Ghetto

Foundation, operates as nonprofit making organization works as a link to all the Ghettos in

Kenya, since they have common plight as far as life is concerned in the face of urgent global

challenges e.g. poverty, climate change, HIV/AIDS, hunger, homelessness.

This foundation encourages young people to exercise their leadership potential like never

before. In that it strengthens and celebrates the role of young people in leading positive change

in their communities.

This is proactively in line with the U.N Millennium goals that entail:

1. Eradication of extreme poverty and hunger

Objectives
Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation

It’s through these MDGs that the founders of Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation have the derived

there objectives. As follows:

1. To help youths discover and utilize their talents, these include music, Art and design and all

social sports

2. To nurture identified talents that goes a great extend in benefiting the whole society

3. To enlighten youths on the effect of Drug abuse and HIV/AIDS pandemic on the whole

society.

4. To Promote gender equality in all aspects of the society

History and progress

Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation was established early in 2004 as non profit making organization. Since

under went many challenges till 2008 when It became fully operational. It was involved in societal issues

like education, culture, politics, social justice , and equipping youths with technical skills to embrace

there talents and music industry as tools that can foster unity of integrity.

In execution of its mandate, Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation works in conjunction with Volunteers.

Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation has been able to nurture young up coming talented youths in there field of

there interest. e.g. musicians and other artists.

Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation boosts of having worked with artists that have massive air play in our local

fm stations and TV stations.

Current programs and capacity

Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation programme schedule revolves around vocational education, technical skills

enhancement and talent nurturing.

Currently it’s working on interlinking Ghettos in Nairobi e.g. musicians in Dandora collaborating with

others in Githurai and so on. This is on the basis that Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation works with Illest

Entertainment a Ghetto Studio.

Achievements and Outputs

Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation boosts of an Illest entertainment mix tape released later 2009.

Also it has come up with an online radio www.voturadio.co.nr (thanks the developers team within the

group), the station plays music from all artists without discrimination with the aim to globally market

them.

Future plans

Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation having the ‘thirst’ to reach more youths looks forward to meet more

volunteers in the near future, so that we can get support both morally, spiritually and financially in order

to meet and be able to nurture more talents accordingly.

We also plan to expand our touch programs like workshops at district level as we spread our golden

initiative to this beautiful country, in order to make it a better place to live and cherish.

We also look forward to work with volunteers to make VOTU radio to go live on air after acquiring the

broadcasting license.
Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation

Plans are under way for the Ghetto2Ghetto Foundation to come up with an interactive website,

currently a feasibility study is underway as youths are being consulted on what they prefer and expect

from the site.
