5.1.2 Casing
a.
The thickness of all cast bowls shall be suitable for the maximum
discharge pressure plus allowances for head increases at pumping
temperature and hydrostatic test pressure at ambient temperature with a
3.2 mm minimum corrosion allowance.
b.
Casings shall have flanged joints. If threaded bowls are used, sealing
shall be achieved by means of O-rings in the partition grooves.
83TMSS01R0/AJJ
Shafts shall be machined and properly finished over their entire length so
that there is no more than 40 micrometers (0.0015 in.) total indicated
runout per meter of shaft length.

83-TMSS-01, Rev. 0
The pump housing bottom and the impeller shall be equipped with easily
replaceable wear rings.
b.
Wear rings shall be held in places by means of a press fit with locking
pins or threaded dowels (axial or radial) or by flanged and screwed
methods. Tack welding is not acceptable.

c.
The stator winding insulation for oil-filled motors shall have at least
equivalent to Class F with temperature rise limited to class B insulation.
Three (3) phase motors shall be NEMA B design and NEMA L design
for single (1) phase motors.

5.2.2 Rotors
a.
Rotors shall be machined and properly finished over their entire length.
The total indicated runout of the bearing journal areas and the area under
the coupling hub shall not exceed 25 micrometers (0.001 in.). All other
areas shall not exceed 50 micrometers (0.002 in.) total indicated runout.
b.
5.2.3 Bearings
The bearings shall be permanently lubricated by the dielectric oil and shall be
designed for at least 20,000 hours of continuous operation. Bearings shall be
positioned as follows:

For interior installation, the control system shall be designed for float
controlled pumping consisting of a control panel of NEMA 1 enclosure
having contactor unit with overload relay, a selector switch (Hand-OffAutomatic) and push button for reset of overload relay.
For outdoor installation, control panel shall be constructed of NEMA 4
enclosure and shall be designed for all-weather protection i.e. dust and
water-proof while indoor type control panel shall be dust and splashproof, constructed of corrosion and abrasion resistant metal.

b.
The control system shall also be designed to provide high water alarm
indication (flashing light and horn), alarm test and silence buttons, pilot
lamps and control power on/off switch.

TESTING
6.1
Oil-filled motors shall be tested in compliance with IEC 60034-1 or any other
internationally recognized standards.
6.2
Each motor shall be given a routine test to demonstrate that it is free from mechanical
and electrical defects. This test shall include the following:
6.2.1 A high potential test on the stator.
6.2.2 An insulation resistance test.
6.2.3 Measurement of the winding resistance.
6.2.4 Measurement of the no-load current (each phase).
6.2.5 Measurement of nominal no-load speed.
6.2.6 A determination of the locked rotor current.
6.3
Curves showing motor efficiency and power factor at 100%, 75% and 50% of full load
shall be provided. The Vendor shall indicate which test code method will be used in the
determination of this performance data.
6.4
A polarization index text test shall be conducted. The polarization index shall not be
less than 3.0.
6.5
6.6
All pumps performance tests shall be in accordance with ISO 5198, Class C; smaller
units being subjected to Annex B criteria.
6.7
6.8
On completion of performance testing, the pumpset shall be set at its rated point and run
for a continuous period of not less than one hour. Test measurements shall be taken at
fifteen (15) minutes intervals during this period.
