Formulate low VOC, high-performance exterior faade

paints and plasters
Mowilith LDM 1865 is the first VAE emulsion designed with Celanese inclusion technology. This new, patented technology allows the introduction of
hard acrylic monomers into the VAE, without increasing the MFFT. This
results in a combination of the best of both monomer systems: excellent
durability and colour retention with low dirt pick-up. In addition to these
improved properties, Mowilith LDM 1865 also offers good fire retardant
characteristics which is especially important for external insulation finishing
systems (EIFS) and plasters. It is possible to achieve classification B1 according to DIN 4102 (Brandschachttests) for the corresponding Mowilith LDM
1865 based systems.
Mowilith LDM 1865 represents the next step of emulsions from Celanese
for low VOC exterior paints. The product allows the formulation of exterior
paints with a reduced amount of solvents and coalescing agents which are
currently present in exterior paints. Mowilith LDM 1865 can also be used
to formulate interior satin paints with good block resistance and wet scrub
resistance of Class 1 (according to DIN EN 13300).

Wood protection paints based on Mowilith LDM

1865 offer an excellent balance between elasticity
and flexibility on one hand and good hardness and
block resistance on the other hand, which is needed to
achieve good outdoor durability and low dirt pick up.
Mowilith LDM 1865 represents a new generation
of VAE emulsions with a very versatile application
profile suitable for exterior paints and plasters as
well as wood protection paints.

How VAE technology functions in low VOC paints

Mowilith LDM 1865 utilizes vinyl acetate/ethylene technology to allow the formulation of superior quality paints
without the addition of smelly and VOC-containing
coalescing solvents. A superior VAE will have a large delta
between the glass transition temperature (Tg) and the
minimum film forming temperature (MFFT). Through a
process called hydroplastification, coalescent-free paints
based on VAE technology allow the creation of a durable,
yet low odour, paint film.

Mowilith LDM 1865 offers better

colour retention
Mowilith LDM 1865 has a positive impact on the colour
retention of deep shade paints in comparison to hard
styrene acrylic emulsions especially in case of more light
sensitive Azo pigments.

Mowilith LDM 1865 showed a much higher residual
length (36cm) after burning in comparison to other
common systems. With Mowilith LDM 1865 it is possible to reach the burning behaviour class B1, according
to DIN 4102.

Mowilith LDM 1865 shows similar outdoor performance

in comparison to competitive technologies like hard
acrylics and hard styrene acrylics.
