INTRODUCTION
Since its foundation, Firmenich has always placed a high priority on
research geared towards the discovery of new fragrance ingredients.
These ingredients have been made available to the market over the years
and have been incorporated by our clients into their successes.
The Firmenich Fragrance Ingredients Catalogue comes with additional
usage information, aimed at helping the user obtain best effects with our
ingredients.
STABILITY & PERFORMANCE TABLE

In this edition we have added recommended application lists, stability
indications, typical dosage ranges, substantivity data and other pertinent
remarks per ingredient featured in this catalogue.
These tables are a guide and are intended to assist perfumers when
choosing ingredients for creation.
RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS is a non-exhaustive list of applications where
our perfumers have found value in creating with the given ingredient, at
the indicated dosage range.
STABILITY is the result of tests carried out in in-house bases over a period
of 1 month at 40C. Detergent refers to powder detergent containing
a bleaching agent. Softener stands for standard concentration fabric
conditioner (fabric softener). APC stands for All Purpose Cleaner.

Under SUBSTANTIVITY & REMARKS we indicate the relative
performance of the given ingredient per application. Wet and
dry relate to the residual fragrance intensity in the following way:
> for shampoo: on freshly washed wet hair and 6 hour dry hair
> for detergent: on freshly machine washed cloth and 1 day dry cloth
> for softener: on freshly machine washed cloth and 1 day dry cloth
For shower gel: bloom is an indication of the fragrance intensity
perceived when the ingredient in the shower gel base is mixed with warm
water.
For soap foam relates to the fragrance intensity perceived when using
the soap bar, dry hand relates to the fragrance intensity perceived from
a towel dried had after washing with standard soap containing the given
ingredient.

Candle: Cold Wax refers to fragrance intensity perceived from the wax
of a non-lit candle. Burning refers to fragrance intensity perceived from

FIRMENICH SPECIALITY BASES

Firmenich has created and offered to the market speciality bases for over
100 years. The original concept of the speciality base was to facilitate the
use of either very powerful ingredients or to simplify the use of interesting
but difficult to use ingredients.
Reconstitutions of natural products also became a major raison-dtre for
speciality bases, especially in the light of ever growing demand for stable
prices and consistent quality.
Our speciality bases have found considerable success in the market and,
upon the request of our customers and the ever changing national and
international regulatory requirements, we have made modified versions
of them to be fully compliant.
Today we still offer a full range of speciality bases which are listed on
the following pages. For simplicity we have only given the name of the
speciality base followed by its olfactive description. In certain cases where
multiple versions exist, numerical and alphabetical suffixes, which related
to modifications, have been removed.

at Firmenich. CAS numbers are given as reference information.
With regard to REACH (EC Regulation 1907/2006), Firmenich is ensuring
automatically the status of downstream users for all customers located
in the European Economic Area. For other customers, Firmenich is
willing to ensure the status of downstream users on the condition
that specific REACH related information has been provided to the
