are quiet elements of the scene. Offered in pure cy indrical,
dome top, or rect linear forms, these clean, compact ow
level lum nalres orient the visual emphas s as inlended

Optics
l\iloldcast bo lards utilze the Peric ine dual ref ector opt cal

system (U.S. Pat. No. 3836767) to eff ciently and effectively

contro the output of high efficacy HID lamps. The upper

collecting reflector directs light at the d stributing reflector,
whlch projects light at angles up to 80'above vertical,
to create wide lumrnaire spacings and a un form d stribution.
Stray ight from the lamp and reilector elements ls sharply
cut off at 90". At normal viewing angles, thereiore, only a soft

glow is apparent from the umlnaire.

To

further enhance the capabillty of these powerful low eve

lurninaires, the Pericl ne bollards are availab e with asymmetric as we I as symmetr c distributions. The asymmetric

strlbution is especia ly usefu for walkways where strict

control of light trespass off of the path s required.

The vast selection of f nishes makes it easier than ever for the
Vonda bol ard to comp ement any setting. An oplional acceni
band wil coordinate with the co or or moiif of the arch teciure.

Customizlng the area is simplifled by the cho ces of standard

or textured pa nts, offered in single, two tone or rnulti-hued
combinatlons.

Vonda Performance
The Vonda is rnore than lust another pretty bollard. This is
a precision outdoor luminaire wh ch leatures the patented

symmetric and asymmetric Pericline optical syslems.

Recognizing, however, that in

andscape environment there

is more to nighttime visibility than horizontal footcandles, the

Vonda series is also offered with two unique uplight

distribution options" The uplightjng of trees and build ngs

can create three-dimensional vis bility by effectively expand
ing the visual field. ln addit on, by uplghting faces of

oncoming pedestrians, a greater sense of security can be

achieved. Also, this dramatic uplght ng is achieved without
the inherent abuse and maintenance problems associated

with below grade or near grade up ight luminaires.

By simply specify ng the uplight option on the Vonda series,

the desired effect may be achieved without adding any

additional equipment to the site.

Two Uplight Distributions

The luminous top Vonda series offers a choice of two
uplighting distributions. A concentraied throw of vertlcal
uplight (CUL) dramaticaly illuminates trees or canopies.
A broader, more difiuse throw of ambient uplight (AUL),
softly illuminates more sweeping canoples, adjacent
vertical surfaces, and faces of oncoming pedestrians.

The cast top is secured wilh stainless stee screws to the cast alun'rinum lens guard and is avaiable n the
3 post or 6 post mode . Cast alum rum top is removab e for relampirg purposes. The po ycarbonate upl ght lens
(37000) is sea ed to the cast a um nun'r top n f ush, non removab e assen]bly. A tempered glass heat and UV
shield is pos tioned direclly below the polycarbonate up ght ens. The lun'rinous top (37000) is offered in two
upllght ng distr butions.

The lens is rugged. injection rno ded, non ye lowing clear acryl c w th a rn n nrum wall th ckness ot 1/8". The ens
s retained n an unstressed pos tion between the upper and lower housings. The lens ls fuly gasketed for bug

Optical System

lnternal Support Structure

Four 0.375" darneter high strength coated steel t e rods secure the upper and lower siructura elemenlstothe
base r ng. Four concea ed 0.375" set bolls contained w thin the base r ng engage the under surface ol the cast
aluminum anchor base to slabl ze the ent re slructure. The cast aluminurn anchor base s secured to a foundal on
