experience with inside sales, billing and Excel are Sleep
preferred. Candidate must have excellent phone We have all heard the admonition to get eight hours of sleep every night. It appears that this
is good advice, although I do not think it all needs to be in one chunk. For example, I know
skills, be able to multi-task and handle pressure in someone who writes novels for a living. He goes to bed at 9:00 pm, gets up at 1:00 am, works
a production setting. The Pioneer offers a full ben- for three or four hours and then goes back to bed for four or five hours. This works very well for
efit package. him. Sleep is a time when our body can recharge and manufacture the internal chemicals that
we used up during the preceding day. We sleep in cycles each one lasting about 90 minutes.
Send letter of interest and resume to: The first part of each cycle has a lot of alpha brain wave activity. This lasts about 15 minutes
Nina Jones, Human Resources and during this alpha time we usually dream. The second part lasts about 75 minutes and is
115 N. Michigan, Big Rapids, MI 49307 characterized by lots of theta and delta brain waves. This is deeper sleep. If you are unable to
get a full eight hours of sleep, then cat naps of 15 minutes or less can be temporarily very helpful.
Or njones@pioneergroup.com The first 15 minutes of sleep, is full of alpha time, and is the most rejuvenating part of the sleep
cycle. If you cat nap longer than 15 minutes, you will often wake up feeling awful.
Sleep deprivation studies show that lack of sleep can have a profound
impact on our physical and mental health. Just one day of loss of sleep
causes fatigue and irritability. Two days of no sleep causes confusion and
three days will cause hallucinations and other serious mental dysfunction.
Do your best to get eight hours of sleep per day.
Dreaming is a very important part of sleep. We will usually dream five or
six times per night. The physiologic purpose of dreaming is to help us sort
out the days events and file them in the proper location for recall and later
use. The emotional and spiritual part of dreaming is to give us information
about our life’s journey. Next issues I will talk more about Insomnia and
Dreaming.
