The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the complete design, calculation and
detailing of all works necessary, whether or not shown on the Tender drawings, to
provide a complete operational and safe functioning system that meets the intent of this
specification. Details shown on Tender drawings are minimum requirements that may
require to be supplemented by additional works to ensure that full compliance with the
specification is achieved. The CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible for determining
the extent of the works to be provided and submitting full details and calculations for
approval.

The wires shall be of aluminium of the requisite purity to achieve the mechanical and
electrical properties specified hereinafter. The aluminium content shall be not less than
99.5%.
TACSR Conductors are very similar in construction to a conventional ACSR conductor
but the EC(electrical conductivity) Grade Aluminum wires are replaced with Hard Drawn
Aluminum wires of Heat Resistant Aluminum Alloy (generally known as TAL ) . TACSR
should be safely operated continuously above 150 enabling to pump more current
through the conductor.
The wires shall be smooth and free from all imperfections not consistent with good
commercial practice.
A joint could be made in the finished wire provided that the coil is 500kg or heavier and it
have a tensile strength of not less than 130MPa.
The galvanized procedure and classification shall be meet requirement of IEC 60888.
Resistivity, density, coefficient of linear expansion, modulus of elasticity for aluminium
wire shall be in accordance with IEC 60889. For Aluminium Alloy conductor
properties, IEC 60104 will be adhered to.
There shall be no joints of any kind made in the zinc-coated steel core wire or wires
during stranding.
Diameter, length and tolerance shall be in accordance with requirement of grade
classification.
Adjacent wire layers shall be stranded with reverse lay directions. The direction of lay of
the external layer shall be right-hand except when specifically indicated in the purchase
order.
The lay ratios for the zinc-coated steel wire layers shall be in accordance with IEC
61089.
The conductors shall comply in all respects with the requirements of IEC 61089 or equal
approved standard. The steel core wires and the outer layer wires shall be pre-formed so
that they remain inert when the conductor is cut. Each layer of conductor except the
outer layer shall be covered with an approved grease of applied mass per unit length
determined in accordance with IEC 61089. The extent of grease to be applied shall be
Case 2 as described in IEC 61089. After application of grease and before the outer layer

The provisions of the Specification in relation to line conductor drums shall also apply to
GSW earth conductor drums.
There shall be no joints in individual wires in a drum length unless specifically approved.
The individual wires of the earth conductor shall be galvanized in accordance with the
Specification. The wires shall be of uniform circular section, smooth and free from
surface imperfections. The diameter of the wires shall not vary more than 2% from the
standard figures. The outer layer shall be right-hand lay.
The GSW earth conductor shall consist of stranded galvanized steel and shall comply
with IEC 60888 or other equivalent national standard, and be tested in accordance with
this standard and the requirements of IEC 61089 insofar as it applies to steel wires, or
other approved standard. Steel wires shall be pre-formed so that they remain inert when
the conductor is cut.
GSW
The line conductors shall be supplied on drums which are constructed in accordance
with an approved national standard so as to enable the conductors to be run out
smoothly and in lengths as long as can be conveniently handled and erected.
Contractor shall submit quality certificates of analyses giving the percentage and nature
of any impurities in the metal from which wires are made. Precautions shall be taken
during manufacture, storage and erection of TACSR/ACSR/AAC conductors to prevent
the possibility of contamination by copper or other materials which may adversely affect
the aluminium.
The stranding of each layer of the conductor shall be as close and even as possible. The
outermost layer shall be right-handed.
There shall be no excessive grease remaining on the outside surface, at the conductor,
which may cause sand and dust particles to adhere during pulling out and erecting of
conductors.
of wires is stranded the penultimate layer of wires shall be thoroughly wiped, so that all
remaining visible grease on the conductor is between the wires of the penultimate layer.
