INOPACAN CENTRAL SCHOOL

WORLD TOILET DAY

Narrative Report
As stated by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, The 2030 Agenda calls on us to renew our efforts in
providing access to adequate sanitation worldwide. We must continue to educate and protect communities at risk,
and to change cultural perceptions and long standing practices that hinder the quest for dignity.
Every year on 19th of November, World Toilet Day is celebrated. It gives us the chance to get involved in the
global movement for toilets and sanitation for all, and raise awareness of the need for action to end the sanitation
crisis.
The Inopacan Central School is one of the many advocates of this UN campaign. Being one, we have
undertaken different activities to promote and motivate each and every pupil of our school to give importance to the
access of toilets. Prior to the celebrated date, ICS teachers convened for the organization of WASH Club and
election of its advisers and pupil officers. It was successfully carried out.
On the actual day of celebration, November 19, 2015, a short program was held which started at 8:00 am
following the essential parts. The celebration was highlighted with the speech of the principal, Mrs. Violeta B.
Boldios, talking about the significance of the access of toilets and the reason why we celebrate World Toilet Day. It
was also boosted by the next speech of the District Principal-In-Charge, Mrs. Aquilina N. Mercado. A simultaneous
toilet clean-up was done beforehand. Likewise, the poster making and essay writing contest portraying and
interpreting the theme of this year, was done at the principals office. Another important part of the program was the
Induction of the WASH Club Officers. Right after, was the awarding of the commendable works of the pupil
contestants of the contest. The lowly program was formally closed by Mrs. Cleofe L. Caracuel, a Master Teacher of
the 5th Grade.
Earlier, a fun run was held at 5:00 in the morning, which kicked off at Rizal Monument Ground in front of the
New Town Hall with its finish line at Bay walk. It was just a friendly race joined by the pupils, teachers, student
teachers and other stakeholders. Furthermore, being a side activity of WTD, the real goal of this event was to bring
all pupils and teachers together for a morning walk and have fun.
The working together, getting tired together, laughing together to create a good working environment is a
gauge that objectives are met.

A fun run is a friendly race that involves either road running or cross country running with participants taking part for their
own enjoyment rather than competition. A fun run will usually be held to raise funds for a charity, with sponsors providing

the revenue to cover organisational costs. Fun runs can include novelty categories, such as wearing costumes, and age
categories for child, teen, and mature. Fun runs can also be included as a side event to a marathon or other more serious
races. Motorcycle, snowmobile, and other motorized vehicle events are also sometimes categorized as "fun runs.

18 Nov 2012. It was only 4:30am and we were already up and heading to Kilage Track Field - the venue of the LFAI
FUN RUN. It was an activity that was prepared and organized only for 2 weeks but it was evaluated as a successful
event.
A checklist for evaluating an activity.
* Review the goal and objectives of the event. Are the goals and objectives met?
The real goal of this event is to bring all "kababayans" together for a morning, weekend activity. To create
camaraderie after a week of stressful work in their respective job sites, offices and shops. A week before the event,
a dozen of volunteers/committee members were working after office hours to organize this event. The working
together, getting tired together, laughing together to create a good working environment is a gauge that objectives
are met.
*Financial Metrics. Were we able to raise some funds? This event was able to get sponsors and participants.
The collected fee was able to suffice all the expenses. Did we stay in the budget? Well, we did not use any amount
from the club's operating fund. The event was self sufficient.
*Event Attendance. Did we get as many participants as expected? The FUN RUN was organized only in 2
weeks. There were a hundred runners and dozens of volunteers and committee members that turned up. The run
was held on a Sunday morning, a day when everybody will wish to just stay home and sleep in. I am very happy
about the number of attendees. It was amazing.
*Awareness Spread. Success is not only about numbers. It's also about gaining awareness. We were able to reach
to our participants, we were able to get volunteers, numbers of sponsors who helped for the cause. It was a mere
two weeks preparation, I wonder how much more we were able to reach if we were given a longer period?
*Was it fun? It was FUN, no doubt about it. I heard people saying, we should do it better next year. It was not a
perfect one being the first Filipino Fun Run and was organized only in 2 weeks, this one really was a FUN RUN!
* Event Recap. I was smiling when I was doing the evaluation report on this event. In my head I can remember
everything - the people who unselfishly volunteered, cooperated, shared their time, knowledge and talent for this
event, the companies who sponsored and gave promotional items in such a short notice, the fun during the
preparation, during and after the event, the smiles of the runners who were tired trying to finish the course they
were running.
I have to share this. There were lots of room for improvement, it was not a perfect event but it was full of FUN.
