Structural, Sculptural and ornamental Glass Design has not been explored much in India. Sculptural glass installations are now utilized as easily
as sculptural stone or metal forms. It is only in the past decade, that there has been a great awareness of Glass , not just as the faceless faade of
commercial buildings, but as a whole new material to be explored for its inherent light giving , space saving and space making qualities.

LOCATION
IDEAL, Ahmedabad

The aim of this workshop is to create an awareness of this wonderful medium through an understanding of it and the various processes involved.
Through exploration and experimental work.
In dedicated modules which we have divided into categories.

Abrasives. Sandblasting, acid etching, engraving. This will deal with surfaces and layers. Different textures and the need for transparence /
translucence or opacity according to the requirement.

Stained Glass and its sister medium Glass Staining: This will deal with the use of colored and clear glasses in different shapes for use in external
/internal design contexts. As well as accessorizing interiors of homes, offices and other areas.

Hot Glass.i.e. Furnace related activity like Fusing/ Slumping. This is used in the creation of tiles, claddings, sculptural and structural forms .

Demos will be conducted for all processes.
We will explore these areas separately and in combinations of each other. We will also consider the usage of glass in conjunction with its support
material, in terms of structural and design making elements with material like concrete.
