PREVAIL 4000
T WO -P ART E POXY A DHESIVE
PREVAIL 4000 Two-Part Epoxy Adhesive
Prevail 4000 is designed for the installation of luxury vinyl tile and plank over well-prepared porous and non-porous substrates. Excellent for
use in health care facilities and commercial installations where flooring will be exposed to heavy fixtures and rolling loads. Suitable for use with
all dryback luxury vinyl tile and plank by Metroflor Corp.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
Suitable substrates include above, on or below-grade concrete (within moisture and alkalinity specifications) APA underlayment grade plywood,
radiant heated floors (85F and below) and well-bonded and properly prepared VCT. All substrates must be clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, wax,
paint, grease or any other contaminants that might interfere with the adhesive bond. Always perform a bond test prior to installation. Do not
use on chemically cleaned substrates. Cracks and uneven surfaces must be filled with an approved cement-based patching compound.
Wooden substrates must be structurally sound, clean and level. Alkalinity and moisture tests must be performed on all concrete substrates
regardless of grade level or age of slab, and moisture vapor emission rates on concrete substrates on any level must be within installation
guidelines. pH must be between 7.0 and 10.0 as determined by ASTM F710. Perform either the most current version of ASTM F2170 In-Situ
Relative Humidity Test, with moisture levels not to exceed eighty (80) percent, or ASTM F1869 Calcium Chloride Test (MVER: Moisture Vapor
Emission Rating) with moisture levels not to exceed six (6) pounds per one-thousand (1000) square feet in twenty-four (24) hours MVER. If the
test results exceed the limitations noted, the installation should not proceed until the problem has been corrected. Follow current ASTM F710
and CRI 104 guidelines. Metroflor Corp. highly recommends that substrate moisture and pH testing is conducted by an ICRI (International
Concrete Repair Institute) tier 2 certified third party.

APPLICATION and INSTALLATION:

HVAC must be in operation at least one week prior to installation. The floor and room temperature, as well as flooring materials and adhesive,
must be maintained at 65to 85F, and the ambient RH (relative humidity) must be maintained between 35% and 85% for 48 hours before,
during, and after the testing and installation. Add the entire contents of Part B into the Part A can. Immediately mix with a low speed electric
drill and clean mixing paddle for three to five minutes, or until the adhesive is thoroughly combined and is a uniform color. DO NOT MIX BY
HAND. Begin applying the adhesive immediately with recommended trowel as noted below. Flooring material must be placed into adhesive
while wet, so spread only as much adhesive as can be covered within the 50-60 minute adhesive working time. Temperature directly affects
adhesive pot life, working and setting times. Higher ambient temperatures shorten working times and colder temperatures lengthen them.
Periodically check tile or planks for complete adhesive transfer onto back of material, especially near the end of each adhesive spread.
Adhesive transfer must be 100% uniform with no visible trowel ridges, and no seeping or oozing between the joints. If there is little or no
adhesive transfer, the adhesive has skinned over, flashed off or dried, and adequate bonding is not possible. Remove all skinned-over, flashed
off or dried adhesive from the substrate and replace with fresh adhesive before continuing the installation. To minimize tile shifting and
adhesive displacement, and to prevent wet adhesive from seeping or oozing from the joints onto the face of the material, do not work on top of
freshly installed tiles. If you must work on top of newly installed material, use kneeling and/or walk boards. Following installation, the floor
must be rolled in both directions using a 100lb, 3-section roller. Roll floor as soon as conditions permit, without causing the material to slide or
the adhesive to seep or ooze from the joints onto the surface of the material. Roll floor again within 1 hour, 90 degrees to the first time rolled.

Porous and Non-Porous Substrates:

1/16 x 1/16 x 1/16 Square notch trowel=125-150sf/gallon.
Install vinyl plank and vinyl tile flooring into wet adhesive. The pot life for the adhesive is 30-45 minutes. The adhesive working time is
approximately 50-60 minutes. Higher ambient temperatures shorten pot life and working times, while lower temperatures will lengthen
them. Loss of adhesion can result if the flooring is not installed within the working time of the adhesive.

CLEAN UP:
Remove excess adhesive before it cures with isopropanol or mineral spirits applied to a clean, lint-free cloth. If Prevail 4000 Two-Part Epoxy is
left to cure on the surface of the material, it may not be removable. Do not allow solvents to sit on the flooring or penetrate the flooring joints.
NEVER APPLY SOLVENT DIRECTLY TO FLOORING.

AFTER INSTALLATION:
Restrict foot traffic for 24 hours and the movement of heavy rolling loads and heavy objects for 72 hours to allow adhesive to cure properly.
Premature traffic can cause installation failure.
