Alhamdulillah, first of all we would like to thank Allah as finally we were able to finish our
assignment that has been given by lecturer to us. This task had been done with all effort by
group members even we encountered a little bit problems that happened to us while doing this
assignment. Luckily, all the problems can be settle and we were able to adapt properly and
wisely.
Besides that, big thank we address to our supervisor Madam Adila because without
her guide our project cannot be done properly like this. She always give us supports and guide
to us how to do our assignment in purpose to produce a good outcome from subject that been
studied.
On the other hand, big thank also we address to the staff of Hytech Engineering
Industries. Finally, thanks to our beloved friend that always stick together and also work hard
to produce a good assignment with all effort and responsibility.
Hope that all the effort will give a lot of benefits to us and also to our group project. A
million thank also we wish to all our classmates because they also help us in doing our group.
They always give us ideas and comments on our project so that we can improve our project in
many ways.

BACKGROUND OF HYTECH ENGINEERING INDUSTRIES

HISTORY
Hytech Engineering Industries was established on 13th October 1989. Hytech
Engineering Industries Sdn Bhd of know-how in the field of Aerospace, energy, Oil & Gas,
Marine, Offshore & Electronics & Machine Components. They are the leader among machine
tool manufacturers. Before this, their first company was located at Puchong in 1986. Now, their
headquarters and factory located in Malaysia on an area of 110,000 Square Feet which are
indoor facilities. Mr. Liong Yen Lam is the Managing Director of Hytech Engineering Industries.
Their finance and admin director is Mdm Pang Yoke Eng and their general manager is Mr. Liong
Kim Sang.

OPERATIONS
Their nature of business is to design and manufacture of slitting machines, rotary
shearing machines, pipe roll forming machines, hydraulic deep drawing press machines and
automation precision machines. Secondly, is to manufacture machine parts and components,
hydraulic cylinders and moulds. Finally, is to make provision of machine and repairing services.

PRODUCT AND SERVICE OFFERS

They have the most up-to-date huge machinery to produce the high volume precision and
quality parts and components to satisfy their customers demand. For example:

CNC Double Column Machining Centre

Vertical CNC Lathe

Zimmermann 5-axis machining CNC portal milling machine

Aerospace (include precision machining and fabrication of engine and aircraft


components)

Metrology - includes optics and photonics play a vital role in the precision engineering
industry to meet the production needs of high value added application needs blades and
medical implants

Oil and gas/ marine & offshore As global oil demand continues to increase, complex
machining of specialized materials fabrication of components will be required to support
the marine engineering industry including the assembly of FPSO conversions, jack up
rings and offshore vessels

Welding Advanced welding techniques are required to meet todays requirement fore
of car to improve fuel efficiency to providing sturdy & cost efficient structures used in
shipbuilding and fabrication of capital equipment, this puts demand equipment simillary
needed for high-end manufacturing such as aerospace industry.

Machine Components As per requirement fabrication of machine components spare


parts such as bearing housings, shafts, bushes, arms, supporting materials. For the
example, either as sample or tailor make and others.

VISION AND MISSION


There are committed to consistently provide the quality products and services to their customers
and continually improve their Quality Management system through:

OFFICE EQUIPMENT

There are few types of office equipment that they used. For example photocopy
machine, telephones, printer, computer, fax and shredder.

Photocopy Machine

The machine used to make another copy of document. They have one machine
every department.

Telephones

The staffs use to communicate with clients, staff and upper manager to get and
give information. The telephone is place on the table and near with them, so its easy for
them.
Printer

The printer is use for print the document from the computer. Every department
they have their own printer and it is placed near the computer.

Computer

Computer is use to do their work. It is use to save client data and processing data.

Fax

They use fax because it is less time consuming. Fax is only use for urgent matter
and it to transfer documents from one place to another.

FILLING SYSTEM

This is where they store all their documents and files, and organized them
alphabetically. This is not the only place where they store all their documents and files,
this company also has a backup system in case of emergency such as natural disasters.
This backup file is only stored by the Managing Director, Mr. Liong Yen Lam
outside of the building. He is responsible to keep that information safe so that if anything
happen, the company can recover all their information and files.

LAYOUT OF THE COMPANY

This company use open-plan as the structure of their company. There are many
advantages of this layout. One of the advantage is it is simple to built and rearrange. By doing
this, they had saved some space for all their meeting rooms. All the area of the office also can
receive natural sunlight. There are more space from outside into the office that can saving the
electricity. It is easier to supervise all workers at the same time. This company use this method
for the workers always be watched.

The disadvantage are lack of privacy for confidential discussion. This is because
there are too many workers that hear what we discuss about. Workers can be disturb by
noise from machine or other workers. In this company there are many noisy machine.
Even though there is not enough space in the office but they can manage properly and
professionally.

MEETING ROOM
They have three meeting room including a pantry. They use the main meeting
room once a month that all department had to attend the meeting. Before the meeting,
they will send a memo to the person that in charge. In the meeting, they usually use
Microsoft Excel for presentation that is use for the calculating and etc.

OFFICE SAFETY AND SECURITY


The department provides safety components for their workers such as fire extinguisher,
first aid, emergency bell. The department provides this equipment for their workers if have any
emergency cases. This is established procedures for office.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENTS

SUMMARY
After this interview session, five of us experience a lot of things. Through this project
we learn how to communicate and co-operate with each other. But the most exciting part is the
interview session with the Officer in charged. Other than that, we also experienced the office
environment, how the workers communicated with their clients and other coworkers. We also
have the opportunity to see the role of the office, the organization structure and their workstation
management. Besides that, we gather so many information that related with Hytech
Engineering. Last but not least, this project help five of us boost our self-esteem and improve
our communication style.
